[ lol ]

She collapsed with a grunt below the bushes, huffing before twisting her head to begin washing the wounds. If she could just keep them clean, she could prevent infection. Considering all her fighting this was no real problem anymore. Battle, heal, go on with life. Kaharabu lapped over her red-stained fur until the injuries were clean, licking all the blood away just to keep it from attracting insects. After she'd finished with her quick washing she looked up, staring out across the grassland. Perhaps...a quick rest. She snorted and lay her head on her paws, keeping silent vigil.

Deciding to go out for a quick run, Chaltuu stepped out of the thicket where she had obscured herself and began to trot quickly out of the general area, and after a few long minutes, she hastened into a swift sprint, leaping over barricading logs and boulders. She rocketed across the savanna's pale, dry grass, the feeling of almost gliding across the fields momentarily exhilarating- not necessarily fun or exciting, nor did she smile, but she instead peered straight ahead, making sure she knew where she was going, whether there was something in her way that could possibly trip her. The air whipped against her fresh wounds, causing them to sting a bit, but she ignored that. After a few brief minutes of hurtling across the golden-yellow grass of the plain, turning whenever she saw it fit, her pace slowed as she fell instead into a gallop, but she skidded to an abrupt halt when she noticed a group of gathered lionesses. Veering sharply to the left, she broke into yet another run, wanting to avoid being seen. Although her claws usually itched for a fight, she knew that getting into another skirmish would only worsen her current injuries, and she stopped when she reached the river.

[How should these two meet again? Chaltuu didn't go all that far, because she's not a fast runner, but she's not right next to Kaha's current resting place.]

[Since I don't want you to have to double-post, I'll just make a reply. You don't have to reply to it right this instant if you don't feel like it.]

Chaltuu started swiping at the river in a rather pathetic attempt at possibly catching a fish from it, although all she did was splash water all over herself- although that was certainly not a priority. She growled in frustration, and instead turned to the riverbank, hoping perhaps some rodent or elephant shrew was there. With her bulkiness and russet pelt, there was no possibility that she didn't stand out against the muddy riverbank and greenish-yellow grass, so she highly doubted that a hyrax or shrew would not see her before she got the chance to catch it.

[ heheh sorry ]

Rolling over, something sharp jabbed into the back of Kaharabu's neck. Spitting, she jerked awake and rolled back onto her stomach, glaring at the root that had poked her. She glanced around warily, wondering how long she'd been asleep. Not long, for it was still daytime. She yawned widely and then got to her paws, ignoring the stiffness and soreness. She gave her dark fur a shake before peering across the grassland. The distant herds of prey and various trees were the only things she could see. Licking her muzzle, she ambled forwards out of the shade, debating on going after some sort of prey again. The first hunt and fight really had sucked up a lot of her energy, but the nap had refreshed her a little. Kaharabu lifted a paw and lapped at it, then began to trot across the grass.

Chaltuu plodded down the river, hoping to perhaps spot some kind of animal that would settle for at least a halfway decent meal. After all, neither she nor the greyish female had been able to tuck into the meal that the latter had originally caught. A couple minutes passed, and she had failed a few minor hunts, chasing after elephant shrews and field mice. She halted, noticing the hyrax perched on a rock ahead of her. Granted, it was quite a bit smaller than average, but plump nevertheless, and seemingly oblivious to her presence. She supposed that it was because she was downwind and covered in damp soil, although she crouched down and leaped into a patch of grass. She slunk forward, trying her best not to scare it off. Of course, knowing her luck, she did, and it squealed and fled at the sight of her. She growled. "Oh, no, you don't!" she hissed, hastening her pace. She refused to allow the small rodent-like creature to slip out of her grasp as easily as the mice had, and she would not let a promising meal get away from her so quickly.

[ psssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssst what if one of them was falling off a cliff and the other had to save her? gasps idk it sounds sorta cliche but fun at the same time huehue ]

Tail swatting through the air, she eyed the herds with frustration. She was still tired, and hardly wanted to risk wasting her energy on a hunt that could possibly fail. Perhaps searching out scrawnier prey would be a better plan, despite how uninviting it sounded. Scoffing to herself, Kaharabu stalked away, padding though the grasslands. The day was annoyingly hot as usual, and she was almost thinking of just finding some shade and flopping over to sleep again. She did often enjoy hunting at night, anyway. Puffing out a breath, she trekked onwards, ears pricked towards the sound of distant running water.

[I like that. Even though Chaltuu and Kaha currently hate each other's guts, they don't seem like the type who'd be like "... Oh, someone's falling off of a cliff? ... Eh. They'll be fine." That sounds good. Who falls off the cliff though? I don't really mind who.]

Chaltuu, after a few moments, managed to snag the hyrax and throttle it quickly, before dragging it under a thicket and ripping violently into the meal with haste. She didn't want to have to fight again for food, especially for an animal as small as the hyrax. After she finished it, she left what little remained of it under the tightly-knitted bushes and began to gallop swiftly in a random direction. Being a rogue, she didn't really have anywhere to go and had no home. That was perfectly fine in her perspective- it was nice to not have to have responsibility of others, not having to rely on anybody except herself, and that meant she got to travel anywhere she pleased.

[ ikr xD and
-pushes Chaltuu off cliff- oops ]

She would be glad to reach that water, now that she thought about it. She was really quite parched. She lowered her head with a huff and kept moving on, ears flicked back to pin against her skull. After a few more minutes, the water's noise had grown louder, but Kaharabu could see nothing ahead. It was only when the grass disappeared that she noticed the deep rift in the land ahead. There must be a river at the bottom of the gorge. Cautious now, the large lioness made her way closer and peered over the edge, grumbling in annoyance as she saw how far a drop it was. Perhaps she could find a way down.

The russet lioness traipsed back up the rather steep gorge, slipping every few paces. After a while, she managed to clamber up, her paws dotted in small, minor scratches and scrapes that she had received from the brambles that adorned the almost horizontal side of the cliff. She ignored them, knowing that she could have gotten much worse- like a slice on her paw pad that would make it difficult for her to walk. It had happened before, after all, and she didn't assume that it couldn't happen again. As she began to trek over the hill-like ledge, she caught her forepaw on a rather long, dead tendril that seemed to have been a small bramble. She jerked back instinctively, immediately thinking it must have been a snake. Her hind leg slipped a bit too far over the edge, and as she scrambled to regain her footing, she let out a surprised roar, followed by a snarl. She caught the edge with her long, hooked claws, though her bulkiness made it difficult for her to climb back over the edge.
