[ Kaha: *sees Chaltuu*

Kaha: *laffs*

Kaha: ...

Kaha: ...I'd better go save her. >.> ]

The dark grey feline began to pace along the edge of the gorge, keeping a few steps from the very edge but close enough that she could peer down towards the stream at the bottom. It wasn't completely covered by water, so a fall would probably just splat her against the ground. It was unlikely the water was deep enough to save her from that kind of fall either, anyway. Shaking her head slightly, she ambled on, until a noise caught her attention. A roar, but not really a threatening one. Not far off either. It sounded vaguely familiar. Kaharabu broke into a trot until the land sloped slightly, and she spotted red paws gripping the edge of the cliff. What--it was that stupid rogue that had lost her a meal! She came to a halt, eyes narrowed. Part of her wanted to walk away. And part of her told her to help. She ground her claws against the soil, then sprang towards the ruddy female. "Grab," she snapped, reaching out with her forelegs to snatch towards the other lioness. Her face was painted with a growl but her eyes were determined.

[x'D Yes, so true.]

Chaltuu felt rather shocked that the one who she had made lose a meal was going to help her, but she certainly didn't protest or question her motives. Hesitating for a brief moment, she wondered if the other feline was trying to deceive her... Whether she was or not, now was definitely not an appropriate time to be thinking things through. She stretched out one of her front paws and seized the other feline's foreleg and used her other paw to steady her insecure grasp on the cliffside. She kicked out her hind paw at the edge, her back claws getting a rickety grip on the cracks between the rocks below her. At least with the greyish lioness's support she was able to keep a more stable clutch on the steep slope that she had previously been dangling off of, in danger of slipping and crashing and quite possibly snapping every bone in her entire body.

She gritted her teeth, hind paws and claws digging against the terrain as hard as she could to keep from slipping. With the red female's grip on her, she pulled again, locking her forepaw against the red fur and leaning back, straining. So close. Pebbles skittered off the edge of the cliff and Kaharabu felt a moment of panic, wondering if the land beneath her would crumble. But it held firm, and with another heave she jerked the ruddy female up and over the top, where both collapsed on the soil. Kaharabu grunted as her head hit the ground, but she scrambled around and got to her paws, shaking her coat.

Chaltuu let out a brief "Oof", but rose to her paws, absently brushing a bit of dirt off of her pelt. "Thank you," she grunted, and although her voice was no less brusque or terse than usual, she sounded- and felt- genuinely grateful. She supposed she owed the other lioness, considering the russet feline had attempted to fight for the greyish female's kill, not to mention inadvertently getting it stolen no more than an hour ago, although she supposed she would have to cross that river when she came to it... She bent her head a bit to rasp her tongue a bit awkwardly over her chest fur, although she didn't really give a care in the world what it looked like, or her appearance in general.

Licking her muzzle, she eyed the ruddy-hued feline a moment, almost tempted to give her a swipe for earlier--but that wouldn't help things. Kaharabu jerked her head in a nod. "Yeah. Whatever." she rumbled in response, as stiffly as the other. Her orange gaze was hard as usual, and her permanent frown remained set in place. An awkwardness had settled over the pair, and her tail swished irritably. "Is the stream worth getting to down there?" she asked after a moment, tone hard.

"If you're actually careful, I suppose so," Chaltuu replied as she lifted her head, her tone just as gruff. "Some rodents live down there and the water's fresh," she continued shortly, her words brief and cold as usual. The russet feline picked some of the dirt and gravel out of her fur, brushing it aside with a scowl. She wasn't sure whether the stream was really worth the potential trouble, considering it had been quite difficult to get down and not easy- not to mention, rather dangerous- to clamber back up. But as she had told the greyish lioness, the water was clean and fresh, not murky and polluted like some of the water sources she had come across in her previous travels, and the mammals who inhabited the stream could make a fairly decent meal, if one who hunted them was not too hungry.

Kaharabu grunted softly, turning her head towards the edge of the cliff, unsure if she wanted to risk travelling down and then back up. She could very well end up like the red one had, and worse with no one to pull her to safety. Blowing out a breath, she flexed her claws against the ground and brought her attention towards her fellow rogue. "Look. There are impala over there. If we work together, we could bring one down and share it, rather than chase around hyraxes and dust mice." she snorted, her gaze sliding past to the distant herds. She'd just thought of the idea, and wasn't too enthused, but if it got her some decent food then she'd take it.

Chaltuu was a bit hesitant, but figured she owed it to the other lioness. "Sounds like a plan," she agreed, dipping her head approvingly. She scanned the area for the impala and quickly noticed the tightly-knit herd of ungulates, and even though it was a bit small she was sure they'd be able to chase one of them astray. Though she wasn't enthusiastic about the idea of hunting together with someone, she supposed the circumstances could be much worse- she could be in a situation with an annoyingly optimistic and hyperactive chatterbox, she supposed. At least the greyish feline seemed to be more quiet and brusque, like herself. And as much as she detested working alongside others and cooperating with them, she assumed that one of the advantages was that they'd both be able to eat well if they hunted together.

[Annoyingly optimistic and hyperactive chatterbox... -slowly points to myself-]

[ xD ]

She swished her tail in satisfaction and trod forwards in the direction of the ungulates, already searching out a target. One near the back looked like it was limping. Eyes narrowed, she glanced to her companion and nodded her head towards that one. Fanning into the grass, Kaharabu dropped into a crouch and began to make her way closer in preparation for the chase. She'd not hunted in a group...ever. Not even her mother had hunted with her. This would be something new, but she hoped it would turn out the way they wanted. After a moment of walking, she flicked her tail in signal, and charged towards the impala.

[Once somebody asked me, "What do you drink in the morning to make you so hyper?"
... Welp, I don't drink or eat in the morning. Ever. xD]

The impala herd immediately scattered as soon as they caught sight of the greyish female, completely abandoning the injured one. It would be a new experience for her as well... As Chaltuu saw the other feline bolt towards the herd and she caught a glimpse of the limping ungulate, she saw that its hind right leg looked mangled, lined with scars. She assumed it had probably suffered an attack but survived, escaping with permanent limb damage. The impala struggled to flee, and although it ran with a rather noticeable limp, it was quicker than the reddish brown female had expected. Nevertheless she sprang from the grass from its side, skidding a bit as the impala- and she herself- veered sharply to the right.
