A young cub opened her eyes for the first time and looked around. She saw a pale tan lioness with blue eyes and many other lionesses and creatures.
"She's beautiful." The tan lioness commented. "She'll make a wonderful daughter, Zira."

Zira gave a delighted smile to herself. "Yes, yes she will," she said, chuckling inwardly.

The young cub turned her blue gaze towards Zira and smiled, nuzzling up against her mother. Nuka walked in, looking around frantically. "Is it over?" he asked.
"Yes, it's over." Nala replied calmly. "Come meet your sister." she invited with a wave of her tail. Nuka nodded, and slowly walked into the den over to where his mother and newborn sister were. "What are you going to name her?" he asked Zira.

Zira looked down at the cub, thinking about a suitable name. "Vitani. Her name will be Vitani," she declared.

"That's a beautiful name for a beautiful cub." Nala replied, switching her gaze from Zira to Vitani and back again.
Vitani purred, then glanced at Nuka. He was scrawny compared to her. She got up to her paws and, wobbling, walked over to him and nuzzled against him. Nuka did the same before pushing the young lioness back over to Zira.

Zira licked Vitani. "Now, if no one minds, I'd like some time alone with my new daughter," she stated.

"Of course, Zira." Nala replied, respectfully dipping her head to the lioness. "Come on, Nuka. I'll go show you some stalking moves." Nuka nuzzled his sister one last time before walking out of the den after Nala. Vitani watched the two leave the den, and looked up at her mother. She then looked behind her and saw her mother's tail moving back and forth. She got up to her paws and ran over to it, pouncing on it as fast as she could.

Zira was rather pleased when this occurred. "Yes, Vitani, continue. You must grow to be a mighty huntress and warrior. Remember, Mommy is here to help you accomplish that," she said.

Vitani had fun attacking her mother's tail. After a little while, however, she got bored of it and began running around Zira's body. She ran and ran until she couldn't run anymore, and cuddled up next to her mother to sleep.
Meanwhile, Nala and Nuka were out in the gloomy Pridelands. Since there was no food anywhere, Nala had Nuka practice his techniques on skeletons left by the hyenas. She wished that Simba or Mufasa were still alive. Things were so much better then, and there was always plenty of food. She sighed, reminding herself that neither of them would ever return. Nuka's collision with a skeleton broke her thoughts. "How was that?" he asked her. She hadn't been paying any attention to him, but she decided not to show it. "That was good. Try it again." she encouraged.
