It was just another morning in the Pridelands. Simba had just risen from his deep slumber, and Sarabi was giving him a bath in the early morning warmth, much to his displeasure.
"Mooooom, why do we have to do this every day?" he whined.
"I want to go play with Nala!" Simba said rather loudly. He wondered where his friend was, and what she was doing.

Mufasa had just caught his breakfast: a small zebra. He figured that before he ate, he should rip of one of the fresh legs and give it to Simba, who was his son, and the future king, after all. Oh well, he was far away from Pride Rock. He should just enjoy his meal, and catch Simba a few mice later. He chowed down, and after eating, said his thanks to the carcass of the Zebra, for taking its place in the great circle of life.

Nala woke up the next morning. She was excited to see Simba again. She tried going over to meet him without being seen, but her mother must have already been awake.
"Nala, where are you going?" Sarafina asked.
"I was going to see Simba." Nala replied. "May I?"
"Alright, but stay out of trouble."
Nala smiled, then ran off to Simba. "Hey, Simba!" she called.

Turning around, Simba noticed his best friend Nala, whom he was just thinking about, running towards him. "Mom, can I go play with Nala now? She's already here." he asked, standing up now that his bath was finished. "Oh, alright, I suppose.. just remember the rules: be back before nightfall and stay in sight of Pride Rock. Sarabi said, looking at her cub affectionately. "Run along now!" she whispered, nudged her cub's rump with her nose.
Finally, free at last, Simba thought to himself quietly. I wonder what Nala wants to do today.. he pondered, as Nala finally reached him.

Mufasa stood up, fully alert now that he had eaten well. "That was really good," he said, thinking out loud. Mufasa wiped the remainder of the zebra-blood off his fur, before it dried. Now that his belly was full, he should probably head back towards Pride Rock and catch his son some breakfast. He felt bad about not saving his own flesh and blood some of the zebra. Mufasa wiped away the guilt and started heading towards the faint, blurry outline of Pride Rock.

"Hey, come on. My mom showed me this really cool place past the waterhole." Nala whispered to Simba.

"Past the waterhole?" Simba said, his excitement growing. "What's past the waterhole?!" he asked his friend.

"You'll see." Nala replied. "Now come on. Let's run." Speaking louder now, she said, "Race ya!" and dashed off.

The race caught Simba unaware. "Hey, wait up! That's not fair!" he shouted as his friend raced away from him.

Nala laughed. "If you want to know where to go and when to stop, you need to follow instead of be ahead, right?" she called, laughing. "We're almost there!" she called when she noticed the waterhole.

She had a good point, though Simba would never admit it. The waterhole was as plain as it always was: a hole with water in it. He couldn't see anything past it, but decided to keep following Nala. She must know what she's doing, Simba assumed.

Nala swerved around the waterhole and continued running straight. After a little while, she turned to the left and continued in that direction. She soon reached an area with green leaves covering all around it. "We're here!" she said, turning to Simba. "Follow me, but be really quiet." she said, now whispering. She pushed one of the leaves out of the way and crawled into the vast area, where a lot of green plants were. She hoped Simba was still following.
