Delano ran as fast as he could towards the den where his jaguar friend Rev lived. There was a wild rumor about, and he wanted to know if Rev knew anything about it. Apparently, someone saw a strange green rock floating in the river, which behaved much differently than regular stones. And now this green stone was the latest talk of the lands. Not bothering to really keep up with the news, this was the first time Delano really felt any interest in gossip, but he still had a shadow of doubt if the story was even true. Which was why he was headed towards his friend now.

Arriving at the small cave, Delano stopped at the entrance and peered inside. "Hey, Rev? Are you in there?" He called inside. He didn't want to be rude and just bulge in, so he remained outside as he waited for permission to get in. "You won't believe what I heard today! Something about a rock. Do you know anything about it? Rev?"

As soon as Delano can get Rev out of his den, the two of them can go and fetch Nahaai, another friend, and then the three of them will be able to see what the fuss was about.

But first, Rev had to get out.

Rev, in whom it is not uncommon to be pretty lazy, was in a deep sleep, although maybe not as deep so as not to be awakened by an annoying noise, which in his case would be the voice of his friend Delano.

Still somewhat sleepy, he could hear something about a rock, "Rock .. Rock?, You come here to wake up just for a stupid rock?, Are you nuts?, Look around, we are surrounded by hundreds, what makes it so special", said Rev while stretching after a long sleep.

"Rocks ...", "Wait!, That's not the rock that everyone is talking about, right?, Don't tell me you believe in such ridiculous story, I mean, GREEN ROCK!."

He got a little close to Delano and asked, "At least you have seen it?"

Delano heard Rev's voice echo out from the den, and took it as an invitation to walk in. "Well, no. I didn't see it," he said, giving his friend a toothy grin. When Rev gave him an extremely irritated look, Delano laughed out loud. "Come on, I'm sure it's real!" He protested. "Well, alright, maybe it's fake. But I though-"

He had to stop talking to dodge an annoyed swipe from Rev. "-I thought we could go fetch Nahaai and see for ourselves." He lead Rev back outside just to make sure that his friend won't find an excuse to go back to sleep. "Come on!"

Without even waiting for Rev to say anything, Delano broke into a run towards Nahaai's den. When the two of them reached that, Delano again stopped at the entrance. "Nahaai? Are you awake? You won't believe what I heard!"

Echoes shot throughout the cave as Nahaai lay curled up in a fuzzy circle in the corner. He was still covered up in the foliage of leaves that he slept with to keep warm. In his dreams were gazelles dancing to and fro, but all that faded when he heard his friends calling out to him.

"Go away" Nahaai roared at them. His paws had been tired from the previous evening and he wasn't about to wake up this early.

Outside the cave, the two uninvited guests stood waiting for their friend.

''Nahaai!'', Rev shouted again, who was still in a bad mood because of the unexpected visit, began to turn upset when he shouted his name one last time, however, there was no answer, he looked at his buddy Delano and told him, "I don't know what's on your mind, but I don't have too much time to sit here to wait if Nahaai decides to leave his cave", then decided to burst in, he walked where Nahaai was still sleeping. Once he had him in front, lowered his head to the height of Nahaai's, went a little further and took a lot of air in a breath, to release a great roar with which certainly could wake him.

Then he said: "It isn't time to rest. Delano already woke me and I won't get back without knowing what's that stone thing that has made so much fuss, do you want come with us or you'll be here all day?"

Needless to say, turned around to go out of the cave, "I just can't wait to see the mystery hidden behind so much blabbering...", he whispered to the wind

As he left he shouted out at Delano who was still waiting outside, "Come on, this loafer is not going to wake up at time", said the impatient jaguar.

Delano glanced between Rev and what he could see of Nahaai in his den. Rev was clearly quite agitated, and so Delano better get to searching for the rock before it will be his head. He quickly poked his head inside Nahaai's den. "Nahaai! We're going to leave you now!" He shouted at the other lion, "So get up now, because we're going!"

When Nahaai didn't do any more than moan a little, Delano left it and went back next to Rev. "Well, looks like he's not coming," he said, slightly disappointed, "let's go."

The two of them left the fen and began walking towards the river, where the stone was found. As they walked, Delano explained what he heard about the green rock. "So it floats," he commented, "what kind of stone floats? Everything we ever tossed into water sank right away."

They got to the river, and Delano frowned when he realized that they were looking for one single stone in a large river. He was about to risk Rev's wrath by suggesting that they go back when his hopes lifted at the possibility of finding it. "Hey, look!" he said, pointing at a large group of animals farther downstream, "maybe the rock's in the middle of the crowd!"

When he saw Delano getting out from the cave, it was clear on his face, Nahaai wouldn't come with they, this prompted him to laugh a little, in a slightly sarcastic way, like saying "I told you.."

When we finally reached the river, Delano seemed to have realized one important detail, how to find the rock. Rev was about to blame the nuisance of having been there losing their time, but suddenly, when Delano said the crowd, clearly all was not lost, "Well ..." he said during a sigh, "Let's see what we find on there" . Then he advanced toward the somewhat agitated crowd, tried to catch the attention of some animal, but they did not respond to his gestures, his doubts would not respond that way, and already somewhat annoyed by the heat of the sun wich was beginning to feel, broke through the crowd, approached and would not believe what he did see, there was no rock actually, all that the crowd surrended was the corpse of a zebra, the jaguar asked stunned, "What happened?" then was answered, apparently there was no explanation, it had not been bitten, not even a scratch on his body, all that was known was that the corpse lay in the river, "What would be the cause of his death?" Rev wondered.

"Delano!, you gotta see this", he shouted out.

While Rev was able to force his way into the crud, Delano waited in the back, occasionally trying to find a way in. But when he heard Rev call out his name loudly enough for him to hear it despite the commotion, Delano knew something was up and forced his way in. After much jostling and pushing, Delano finally found himself next to the jaguar.

"What did you see?" He asked, and his eyes fell onto the zebra. Delano sighed and rolled his eyes. "It's just a dead zebra. I thought you hunted them. let's go..." He was about to turn and walk back out when he registered the shape the zebra was in. "it's a dead zebra, but nothing killed it..."

Now Delano really did go back, pulling Rev with him. "Something is not right. Zebra don't just fall over dead," Delano explained, "come on, let's get out of here."

Yawning in the brisk cool morning air, Nahaai stretched his paws and rubbed his eyes to relieve himself of his sleepiness. He only awoke when he was good and ready, it was in his nature after all. "Now where did those two run off to" he said as he scampered off to find his two companions.

He cleared the edge of the trees before he finally saw them. They were both in the midst of a crowd. "Darn it" Nahaai said to himself. "They didn't tell me there was going to be a crowd". Nahaai ran towards them at full speed. If there was one thing he hated, it was getting left out of a group conversation.

Since he had a very flexible body, he managed to squeeze himself through the rows of animals and discover the rotting remains of the prey. "Whoa. What happened you guys?"
