Title: Heir Of Evil

Story: The Pridelands are at peace. Sarabi is pregnant, and will soon deliver Mufasa's heir. However, Scar and Zira, suffering from the ongoing issue of being unable to have cubs to help them in their scheme to rule the Pridelands, decide to steal the cub as soon as it is born. Soon enough, Simba is born and is stolen by Scar and Zira that night as everyone sleeps. Simba is then raised as Scar and Zira's son in the Elephant Graveyard, enduring a rough existence of training so that he may one day kill Mufasa and Sarabi. Time passes, and Simba is now a scruffy but handsome young adult. One day, while on a spy mission in the Pridelands, he meets Nala (who was born only a day or two after him), who was named as Mufasa's heir in Simba's absence. After spending time with her and beginning to fall in love with her, he begins to question everything Scar and Zira taught him.

The news of Queen Sarabi's pregnancy had spread across the Pridelands. At Pride Rock, the pride had gathered to congratulate her and King Mufasa. Zazu was the first to approach them. "Congratulations on your coming heir or heiress. I wish you two and your cub a lifetime of happiness," the hornbill said.

Sarabi smiled, and replied "Thank you, Zazu. Mufasa and I are very excited about starting a family." She didn't want to admit it though, but she wasn't only feeling excitement, she was also having slight worries about being a mother. Sarabi didn't know what was going on in her head, but she couldn't escape these feelings that something could go wrong.

Zazu only smiled. "I'm sure you'll do wonderfully. Any cub would be lucky to have you and Mufasa as parents," he said, also feeling a sense that something might be up. He looked around to see if he could spot the king's brother, Scar, or his mate, Zira, among the gathered pride members. As usual, they were nowhere to be found. "Well, it seems that Scar and Zira didn't bother to show up again," he said, his disdain for the king's brother and sister-in-law obvious in his voice.

"A cub," Scar growled disdainfully. "Are they trying to ruin my life?" He angrily tapped his claws on the rock of their cave.
"It's alright, darling," Zira muttered, her tone suggesting that it was not alright.

The next Pride Rock residents to visit Mufasa and Sarabi were Sarafina, Sarabi's best friend, and her mate, Shujaa, a handsome former rogue who now resided full time at Pride Rock. Sarafina was pregnant herself and would soon deliver her cub. The two lionesses had made plans to raise their cubs side-by-side. Shujaa looked at Mufasa as Sarafina talked with Sarabi. "Congratulations, Mufasa. I'm sure you're very proud. I'm sorry that your brother and his mate didn't show up," he said.

Positioned just to the side of her mate, Shujaa, the pregnant Sarafina gazed momentarily at Sarabi's belly. Being the queen's friend of many years, the green-eyed hunter had long since planned to help her raise the future heir or heiress to the throne. For this reason, the news that she and Sarabi had become pregnant within mere days of one another had delighted Sarafina to no end. Now, not only would she be able to aid Sarabi with her cubs, she would also have the privilege of raising a cub of her own side-by-side with the queen.

With this knowledge in mind, Sarafina couldn't help but smile at the sight of the pregnant queen. The apparent lack of excitement from Scar and Zira would not damage her good mood today.

"You know, of course, that I'll be right there with you every step of the way," Sarafina finally managed to tell Sarabi, more than a hint of motherly pride in her voice. She turned then to the king, "I wish you two nothing but the utmost happiness, Mufasa. You will be a wonderful father."

Finally, she turned to her mate and nuzzled the side of his mane. "And you will be too, Shujaa. I know it."

Shujaa smiled and nuzzled Sarafina in return. "And I'm sure you'll be a great mother," he said. His mind then returned to Scar and Zira. "I think I'll go and talk to them and see what I can find out," he said. He then went over to where Scar and Zira were. Upon arrival, Shujaa looked at them. "Scar, Zira, you missed a joyous occasion," he said, obviously irritated with the two.

Mufasa laughed deeply, "Thank you friends and family." He toke a deep breath in. "If my brother and his mate decided not to come, it is their choice. But, apart from that. I'm trying to keep the animals un-aware of the births, so it is more of a surprise to them once they are called." Nodding his head, then smiling.

Shujaa glared at Scar and Zira. "You didn't answer me when I spoke to you. King Mufasa is very disappointed in you two," he said, barely keeping his irritation down.
