The sunlight brightened, filling the valley with rays of warmth and the start of a new day. As the last of the morning stars vanished into the blue sky, Quill rose, stretched his stiff limbs, and padded quickly out the den before someone worried him. The cub sighed and sat down in a sunlight patch a few tail-lengths away from the clearing. His blue eyes flickered to the others chatting away. His mind quickly switched back into it's normal gear mode as his senses "turned on". He lifted himself off the grass and trotted solemnly to a rock closer to the others.
Quill pawed at a floating butterfly and batted at it, missing by an inch. His blue orbs shot up as he heard the sounds of an animal near by. A zebra... he thought, the world slowing down. He looked around at the other zebras, their stomping beginning to get louder. Quill gasped angrily and the world resumed it's normal speed. Sometimes he would have to get a hold of his senses before he let them drift off.
As the sky turned a cornflower blue, he pawed a leaf and glancing up at other lions. He hasn't talked to adults in a while. They were always solitary...like himself, so it never worked out. They would say their normal hellos and go on with their day. He lifted his small body off the ground and trotted happily over to Kerubi. "Morning, Kerubi," he greeted formally, his tail flicking side to side. He huffed and pressed his haunches to the ground.
