My (almost) Near Death Horse Riding Experience

I had a very close call today. Me and Ned (lighter brown horse) were behind Jade and Archie. We'd just gone around a corner, when a massive landrover sped around the corner.
I turned because of the roar of the engine, to see it was heading straight for us!!!
Luckily, Ned is a very twitchy and responsive horse, so I yanked his reins (sorry Ned) to the side and he jumped over...even though I had taken this evasive action, the car was about 3inches from his hind legs.
They didn't bother to slow down and even nearly crashed into 2 cars coming the other way!!

I'm so glad these horses are calm in traffic, or it might have been fatal.

PLEASE drivers, think about horses and riders. Remember, if the rider is a jerk, don't take it out on the horse.
I would like to thank the woman who turned off her engine (and all who do the same) when she saw Ned was distressed at something!

Thank you :)

Seriously, that guy has issues. I hate people like them, I lost about three cats because of jerks that just wouldn't slow down when I was younger. ._. Sorry that you had such an experience... Just the thought of getting hit by a car while riding a horse is scary..

Yea :( I've lost a cat and I know several people who've lost cats and dogs to people who just weren't paying attention.
I mean, I get cats and dogs are small and run out in the road with no warning...but there's no excuse with horses! Unless they've escaped and ran onto the motorway at night (which I have heard of, I guess it's like when people hit deer/moose etc)
But when they're under control at the edge of the road...how can you not see them?! They're HUUUUGE!

I wouldn't be so angry, but it's the fact that they saw us, and didn't even slow down...most people who are speeding see us and slam on the breaks...they shouldn't be going that fast in the first place, but I'm greatful they bother to slow down...unlike the person the other day.
Don't they know what a horse could do to them? I've seen pictures of horses INSIDE the car after an accident...you wouldn't survive that.

Still, there are some lovely people ^^ usually tractors, push bikes and mothers (weird eh?) I guess the kids like looking at the horses :P
The worst seem to be SUVs and vans!

Pfft the drivers in NJ are way crazier, trust me. :P You can hardly call them "drivers". All they do is honk their horns and make illegal turns. :pout:

Talk about a close call! 0.0 I'm really sorry this had to happen to you Annie. I wish people could be a little more considerate. It would be a good idea to campaign against this because an accident's bound to occur eventually. My cat almost lost its life some years ago because of the same problem. :(
