Time spent online... TOO MUCH!

Well I just took a quiz on if I am addicted to the internet or not. Sadly I am. And I am going to try to break my habit, because it is effecting my grades, and my social life, to be specific. I am neglecting my real life friends from being online too much, and I get anxious when I am away from the computer. My computer addiction has also affected my health greatly.. I found out I NEED to take walks everyday, to get exercise. Since I am a little out of shape, not over weight I just need to stop being lazy. >.> So I am going to start to break it... I know it isn't going to be easy, but I am going to try anyways. :) So, I MIGHT not be online, if i am not, I will be outside just roaming around my neighbor hood. :) I don't think I will be able to do this though.... sounds hard. >.>

It's about finding a good mix of offline & online IMO. But if you enjoy spending time online, there's nothing wrong with being online quite a bit.. plenty of worse things to be addicted to. But if you do want to really cut down on time spent online, just spend an extra bit everyday away from the Computer or whatever it is you use, untill you think you have a good mix. I found that I enjoy my time just chilling out infront of the Computer or whatever more, if I don't do it too much. That's just my adivce of course.

Regardless, all the best with that ^^

Yeah, taking a break from the internet and the computer can be a very wonderful thing sometimes. I spend a lot of time on it during the school months, and whenever I'm home it's actually kinda exhilarating in terms of how much freer and healthier I feel. I tend to get a lot more done, too. Perhaps you'll find this to be the case as well. Either way, good luck with shaking your 'addiction.' c:

Just letting you know, online quizzes that judge how "addicted" you are aren't always the most reliable. :P Nevertheless, you seem to suffer from it anyway lol. If it helps, set a curfew limit for yourself. So plan to spend only 2-3 hours on the computer daily, and the rest of the time you can be socializing IRL, reading a book, doing you hw, jogging around your neighborhood, playing with your pets, etc. You'll discover there's a lot more to life than sitting in front of a computer screen all day. It's going to be tough at first, so try to ease yourself slowly into this new schedule. :) Good luck. ^^

As other people have said, it's just about regulating and finding a healthy balance between computer time and time spent otherwise. If you can balance excercise, work, meals, and social things along with the computer, you should be fine. As Amanda said, I'd try to keep it down to two or three hours if you can.

If only I had two to three hours to focus on the computer at a time... ;.;

Lol, I did such quiz too. But never trust internet quizzes. According to online IQ tests, I'm a genius! That can NEVER be right :crazy2:
What I wanna say: just enjoy life the way you want it. If you want to be online for over 10 hrs everyday, it's your choice! And if you don't want to, it's also your choice :)
I choose the life where nobody tells me what to do.....and it's CHILLAXED :cool:
Well, hope to see ya back soon!
Regards,
A super-genius :tongue: ;)
