furry scuffle

ok heres the situation

im part of two groups: the furries and the cosplayers

we are pretty much alike, both made insane want to have fun, and dress up in costumes. so a good few months back me and one of my best friends get invited to cosplay meets. we go end up having a good time, and made a good few new friends. eventually some of the cosplayers come to the fur meet and it turns out they are also furry (win! ^^) and some of the non furry cosplayers come along as well

now heres the brain twisters. our 'leader' (as if) doesnt like the fact that non furs (anime/cosplay ppl) are coming to the meets, so do a few of the others (so im told). now he wants to ban all none furs form the meets. it doesnt matter if they are good friends or even partners/mates he doesnt want them in period

after a long debate over this we decide to have a vote on it, i suggest the next meet (tomorrow the 7th) we take a piece of paper and go round everyone. nope he doesn't want that, instead he posts on the furry forum. the cosplayers are not allowed a vote, and not everyone is even on the fourm. so we have to go round reminding people cause they will forget

so tomorrow is going to be a rough day, im going to be tell my friends who are both of cosplay and furry nature and see what they think. we will end up either taking over, or losing out depending on opinions of the people. one thing is for sure, im not going down without a fight and neither will my friends

ok so thats the situation right there. what do you make of it? feel free to leave any and all opinions

Not professing myself to (fully) being either of those things and thus not really knowing how either's meet-ups work, my ignorance may show with my opinions so I apologize beforehand there. That said, I would agree with you that it is kinda uncool for this leader guy to want to kick these people out. I mean, I'm not going to lie, I can see where he's coming from, but if these non-furs are still participating and not being a disruption nor, you know, bashing furries or anything, why should it be a problem? I think (once again, possible limited knowledge/ignorance) there are cons out there where both parties are conjoined and there isn't a problem, so why would this be any different?

Good luck, either way. I'm glad that at the very least they're putting it through some kind of democratic process instead of a more authoritarian one, even if you seem to think that not everyone will be able to place a vote. It could be worse in that regard. Hope everything goes well for you and your friends.

I think your solution made perfect sense and I don't know why this "leader" decided that the vote should be held on a furry forum. It just gives the furries an unfair advantage. :/ YFWE is right - it's unfair to discriminate against the non-furs. I don't see what this guy's problem is. As long as they aren't being disruptive or anything they should be allowed to go to these meets.
All I can suggest is that you hope that none of the furries are siding with the leader on this. Even though it's probably too late, try to get as many of your furry friends as possible to vote that the non-furs stay. That's all the advice I can give lol. Good luck tomorrow and I hope you and your cosplay friends win in the end. =]

if you guys are all about having fun and some stuff, why does there even need to be a vote? :/ it seems kinda elitist to me..

Yeah I agree with Amanda... your solution seems like common sense, to me at least. Sounds to me this "leader" is just on a power trip. I hope all goes well for you. :)

ok what a crazy day yesterday. i was talking to people who were on my side on the way to the meet and we ere going to confront the 'leader' about all this. thats until i got a call from someone else saying that i misunderstood what was said on msn, which is BS cause he plainly said 'i want to ban the cosplayers'. In any case i was getting sick of being pulled around so i agreed on the fact we would sit down and talk it out

however when i arrived he avoided me completely and we didnt speak at all. in the mist of the choas i managed to go see a film with my GF ( <3) and it helped calm me down a great deal until we rejoined the group and i find out the 'leader' hs declared to ban under 16's. my GF is 15 (16 in may) she has been coming for months and suddenly he dumps this without talking to others

needless to say i was not a happy lion and i did want to hit him but instead came up with my own plan. if the cosplayers and our loved ones cant come im making my own meet. one for both furries AND cosplayers with fair rules (mostly common sense things like dont break the law) ive talked it over with some of the other who were mad at the 'leader' and they like the idea and even think that the cosplayers wouldnt mind if it replaced their own meet every month

so theres an update, basically out of one pan into another. im sick of the drama being caused and then im the damn one getting the blame so im just gonna cut and run

Good plan. Like I said, each to their own. Let your friends do what they want, and you do what you want. Don't try to "fix" anything, just go have fun.

Random input of the year - this is why I hate it when people have 'leaders' in groups.. unless a leader is totally fair minded it always goes into this sort of situation. Which sucks.
