I'm always interested in weird, wonderful and just pain awesome facts!
So, post as many as you know :dreamy:

- "Oriental" purely means the shape of the eye.
Asian/etc people have Oriental eyes, while English/American/etc people have Occidental eyes!

- At maximum acceleration, a greyhound reaches a full speed of 70 kmh within 30 metres or six strides from the boxes, traveling at almost 20 metres per second for the first 250 metres of a race.

- Horses used to have 5 toes.

- Jackie Chans real name is Chan Kong Sang. (Oh shush! I had to put one JC fact in here!)

- Caracals can just 8ft straight up in the air.

- Peregrin Falcons can reach speeds of 270mph in a dive.

I've got a few:

'There's enough energy in a tank of gas to lift a car into orbit.'

'The Electric Chair was invented by a dentist'

'In 1911, a dog in Nakhla, Egypt, was hit by a meteorite from Mars. It is history's only recorded death-by-meteorite.'

'According to suicide statistics, Monday is the favored day for self-destruction.'

'The average person spends about 2 years on the phone in a lifetime.'

That's all I can think of right now :)

Humans and dolphins are the only known species that have sex for pleasure :innocent:

Simbafan - Pigs do to ^^

- Horses don't go into a deep sleep, while their standing, but doze for 1/2hr or so at a time. If they want to go into a deep sleep, they will lie down, but they will only do this if they feel completely safe.

- If you get shot with an arrow, you'd better be wearing Silk!! Silk will not break, but twist, so you can pull it out with minimum damage.

- Hyenas live in a female dominated society. Female Hyenas are the most masculine females in the animal kingdom. They have very high levels of hormones that are usually found in the males. Also many female hyenas have enlarged clitoris, to the point of looking like a [censored]. The female hyena urinates, mates and gives birth through this modified clitoris (it is inverted for mating).

- Birds claws appear to be clasped when they are relaxed, this is so when they sleep, they don't fall off the branch!

- In Roman areanas, thumbs up meant "Yes, kill him" and thumbs down meant "No, spare him" not the other way around.

- A test was done on horses to see which horse is more frightened - a horse that runs, or a horse that stands it's ground.
The answer is a horse that stands it's ground, because it's going against it's basic "flight" instinct.
So infact, brave movie/stunt/police horses are actually much more scared than a spooky horse.

This is a quote, but it's very interesting!
"Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits. Yet he is lord of all the animals."

if you took all the water in the world and put it into a massive ball, it would cover Europe, however if you take the atmosphere it barely reches the boarders of france

- The modern cheetah population can be traced back to a single African group of 500 animals that survived the last ice age. Genetically, this means all living cheetahs are as close as identical twins. They are notoriously difficult to breed in captivity because the female needs to be chased by several males before she can ovulate. Akbar the Great, the 16th-century Mogul emperor, kept more than 1,000 cheetahs but managed only one litter. The next cheetah born in captivity wasn't until 1956.

- A rat can swim for 72 hours non-stop. It can jump down 50 feet without injury. It can squeeze through a half-inch gap, leap three feet, climb vertical surfaces and walk along ropes. It can survive longer than a camel without water. It will eat anything that's edible and lots of things that aren't (lead sheeting, soft concrete, brick, wood and aluminium).

It reaches sexual maturity at three months. An on-heat female can have sex more than 500 times with a barnload of different males and produce 12 litters of 22 young each year. In short, rats are very, very hard to get rid of.

(Note: These are copied/pasted, but I did know them already)

- I'm the most prolific artist on TLKFAA, by nearly 2000 images. ^^
(Me - 4532 pictures ... 2nd most prolific - 2725 pictures)

- (Here comes another Jackie fact!) Jackie Chan does not infact do all his own stunts. He stopped somewhere around the age of 50 (Being 56 now) However, he did previously.
Side note: I'm seriously surprised the man isn't dead. He's shattered part of his skull and a piece of bone went into his brain. And that's just one of hundreds of serious accidents he's had.

The facts below are from my friend Crocuta, she's one of the smartest people I know.

- Some people can see even though the center for sight in the brain is damaged, and they not even aware of seeing.

- There was once a man who had a stroke and it distroyed his ability to see colours. Not just in the real world, he couldn't imagine or dream in colour.

cheetahs might be a possible link between the big and small cat families. their closest relatives are the leopard and the cougar. it's theorized that they could breed with both and produce hybrid cubs, but due to how complicated breeding cheetahs alone is, there haven't been attempts at trying. in both cases, the cheetah would need to be a male cause of the size difference of the newborn cubs.

the North American cheetah, extinct since about the last ice age, is actually more a cougar than a cheetah.

martial eagles have a 6 ft. wingspan and hunt prey as large as young antelopes, even though they are only 15 pounds themselves!

(my favorite dog breed :dreamy: ) Carolina dogs, also called the Native American dog or American dingo, are a primitive dog species that were kept by the natives of the American southeast. they were discovered last century living in very remote areas away from human or other canine contact, meaning they were purebreds not mutts. they are in the rare breed registry, so the pups can be expensive unless you manage to find a feral one.
