Hi. Normally I’m a pretty active member here on MLK, but the past couple of weeks I’ve just been needing a break from the computer in general. During the holidays I’ve been pretty busy with my job and spending time with my family, I have also been ill, which is the main reason for my break.

Also, something terribly sad happened on Tuesday. One of my cats, Nikko, was taken to the vet and was put to sleep. I took him to the vet because he had suffered weight-loss and would not eat anything. The vet discovered he had a tumor in his belly that was pressing on his stomach-sack.. (where the food is digested.) She told me she could attempt to remove the tumor, but it really wouldn’t do any good. The vet said that the best thing for the cat would be to be put down so he would be free from the pain and sickness.
My older sister and my mother were both there with me, which was a great support. I broke down completly and cried so hard..
I still have my other 4 cats, which is a great comfort and support to me. I just wanted to tell you about this, so you know why I haven’t been on...

I'm so sorry this happened, Solle! It's hard to let go of an animal that was so close to you....I'm also sorry about work and sickness. So many things at once! Hope you feel better! *pats back*

Thanks Kate. *hugs* I really miss Nikko, I’m going to collect old photographs of him and make a collage or something..to hang on the wall in my bedroom. I did that when our first cat died, when I was 13.

I hate it when animals die....they have such shorter lives..... *hugs back and cries with Solle*

I know! I hate that he died so young, he was only 8! It feels so pointless that he should be taken away.. I really hope none of my other cats get sick.

Oh my... I'm so sorry about your cat! I had to put my dog down 3 years ago because he was becoming deaf. *huggles*
