ok so im in a seminar (a group discussion about whats been talk about in lectures and the guy put on lion king and starts to pick it apart) first off he goes into how its not related to africa as the lion is a symbol of british leadership and the africans hate that. next we got onto scar. first off hes darker than the good guys meaning evil. but of course he doesnt stop there! he also links it to the good guys being the white people of the western world and scar being 'the black guy from the ghetto'. he does the same for the hyenas!! and the graveyard is their 'ghetto'.

he goes on about scars apparent gayness, and the whole nazi thing. then, and i was like wtf, during the scene where scar takes over theres a cresent moon in the background, so to him (and apparently alot of good sources  ) this is a direct reference to being Muslim..... WHAT!?!!!!!?? hes basically saying that scar is a gay black nazi muslim. and so are the hyena's. seriously come on. I think that's just a little OTT especially when all those are represent as 'the worst things' in the world in this one character.

Now i understand that people may get offended, alot have. but at the end of the day it is just a well made amazing film and if it was so bad why wasn't disney stopped from making a sequal. the lecturers answer: cause all the things scar apparently is are of 'lower class' and they don't matter, that's basically what he said. O.o Of course i was not going down without a fight and the class was divided on opinions which got me thinking. Thats all it is. opinions. but before i could make that point the class ended in a stalemate, between me and the lecturer.

so now i have explained this wonderful event, what do you guys think?

Haha! Sounds like an entertaining class. Last time anyone talked about lion king in my class was when our reverend showed us clips from her trip to Africa and had Circle Of Life playing in the background.

Wow. Someone crap talking Lion King? What else is new? I'm sorry this happened, KK. Some people are just low lifes who have nothing better to do with their lives.

Sounds like some people are looking a little too deeply for signs of discrimination. Last time I checked movies were allowed to have a crescent moon in the night sky without being accused of discrimination.

lolololololol your lecturer fails.

Thats like saying our digestive systems are racist because our crap is brown lol. Totally pathetic. You can find connotations if you over-analyze ANYTHING deeply enough. I hope you laughed at his utter fail.

Pffthaha, sounds like an interesting person...

To me it's just a fun Disney film with lions! Not any racial meanings :P

That is pretty funny there. I agree with scar being black symbolized his evil though, and that the pridelanders more white skin symbolized good. I don't agree with anything else though, so in other words, yeah, a nice funny troll there too make fun of.
