Do you think ''hell'' is a bad word?

Do you think hell is a bad word? There were a lot of discussions about it in the chatroom, so I guess I could add it in the forum. Explain your answer please.

I think it depends how you use it. If you say someone to go there, then it is. But if you want to explain what does it mean, it's not offensive or bad at all. How about everyone else?

(No offensive answers please.)

It's definitely a cuss word, and I think personally that it doesn't belong in a MLK setting, but there can be exceptions. It's even used in Little Stranger once or twice. It's up to the discretion of the staff that deals with it I think.

If it just sort of squeaked out and isn't causing any harm chances are there won't be a problem. If it's being used in an inflammatory way that's designed or likely to offend, then the situation will be dealt with as seriously as if it had been a much more severe swearword.

Hope that helped.

Hell, is a cuss word depending on how you use it.

When you use it in a inappropriate mannor, then yeah it's a bad word.
But, if you use to religeously, then no, it's not a bad word.

I'm also a firm believer, that's it's not that offensive to say hell. It's the least offensive curse word in my opinion, and there's no reason why we shouldn't be able to use it, as to spice up an RP, or something we say.

I personally don't feel that it's a bad word. Maybe if you tell someone to go there, then maaaaaaaaybe, but I still don't see it as anything more than a place. I can see where it might offend others though.

well, if you tell someone to go there or shout it out in the place of another profane word (ah, hell! what the hell?). but just referring to it as a place, heck no. lol.

I explained this to fellow 6-year-olds before (when I was 6) and some of them still believed it was a cuss word.

Where I'm from, hell isn't really considered a cuss word, but then again, none of us are christians and we basically grew up using cuss words

I think it can depend on views and how your feeling. "Hell" in some religion is considered a place of fire, while other religions don't believe in "hell." That was want society once saw it as, but now (I think) society now just uses it as a way of expression than that type of "hell" reference.
Honestly though, there are people that just see it as a regular word to use in everyday life.

Now for it depends, I don't like the use of the word around the younger ages because I usually see it as an expression of anger. And children absorbed things like a sponge, and then they will try to imitate that. I'm not saying that I use it every second I get, but it slips out now and then and sometimes I use it purposely.

Guess I'll echo what most have already and say that it depends. In the company of some, it's obviously not a good thing to say from its curse word standpoint. That said, I do use it a lot, LOL. I'd say it's probably the most inoffensive as curse words go, but that's just me. Still: I'd say it's not ALWAYS a curse word, especially when you're talking about the Christian Hell, obviously.
