Making A Website; Help please

I have been wanting to make my own website for a while, but I have never made one before, and I don't know what to do or where to start. :innocent: I'm on a tight budget right now and can't afford to pay for a website at this time, so I'll need to use something free. If any of you have done this before, could you give me some tips on how I should go about making a website? Are there any do's and don't's I need to know before I start?

There are a lot of web hosting sites out there. Webs and as well as Weebly are very easy to use and are free. I'd suggest Webs because once you sign up you have the choice of being walked through creating your website, which helps you or you can build it on your own.

I highly recommend Freewebs/Webs! I have been using that since I started making sites in 2004. It’s very easy to use, and it offers an easy-to-follow site builder that require no HTML skills. You can have lots of pages, tons of paragraphs... You can insert pics from your photobucket album or post YouTube videos, and there are lots of cool interactive content like polls and counters for your site.

If you choose the Easy Site Builder (with no HTML) you have to choose a template, but you can easily customise your site design by making your own backgrounds and logos.

Remember: When you get your site started, building traffic is alfa omega! Advertise, advertise, advertise! (Webs even offers an easy guide to get you listed at the major search engines like Google and Yahoo.)

Good luck!

there's also http://invisionfree.com and its partner site http://zetaboards.com if you want to make forums.

if you aren't familiar with HTML, http://cabanova.com

another site that's free that I've used before offers e-mail service too (username@yoursite.zzn.com). it can be a little difficult to figure out though, although you don't have to necessarily know HTML to use it. http://zzn.com

I might try zetaboards, because it's mainly a forum.
