I'm just curious if anyone here knows about it and if anyone here is on the spectrum.

I have PDD-NOS, which is like Aspergers Syndrome(the higher end of the spectrum), but I didn't talk until I was six or something like that.

So is anyone here autistic?

I'm sorry to hear that. I have a friend who is Autistic but I'm not sure of the details. He's about 13 and he can't talk or do much but he's a sweetheart.

Autism is a neurological difference in the brain that effects people and how they function. People are still trying to figure out why people are like this.

People with Autism can be misdiagnosed with scthzofrenia(sp?), ADD, and a few other things. They socially can be awkward and don't really know how to communicate with others. They aren't stupid or anything, they just have a different way of functioning.

Schizophrenia :)

Totally not stupid... actually it's been proven that people with Autism are smarter than a lot of people... they just have a hard time communicating... something in their brain doesn't click you know? Or clicks differently actually.

And just to give proof to my statements, here are some links you can look up about Autism:

http://www.wrongplanet.net/index.php

And LA, you don't have to be sorry for me. Yeah I get frustrated and depressed when I feel like I'm the only one in the world with my problems, but then I just try to remind myself that other people have the same problems as I do.

Awww I feel so bad for people with autism. It's so unfair that they get it while others don't. :(
I do know of some people with autism, but I don't really know them, if that makes sense lol.

Anansi's oldest younger brother has a mild case of it. and my friend's little cousin has one of the more severe cases of it (I don't think he said more than a few words until about 6 or 7).

actually, Anansi's brother is quite talented in music and pretty knowledgable about computers. he's even a moderator on my forums ;)

oops, I put what is Autism by mistake.

You know, I have a fair amount of respect for people with autism. Their brains work in such different ways that they can sometimes be geniuses in areas that are difficult for "normal" people. They're sometimes able to score very high on the IQ scale and solve difficult problems.
