I have my own HP forum,
and i have 20 members
so im wanting to know what ppl want in a forum

Running a contests could help. I think the main thing though is to try and start different topics on your subject. Induce conversation!

A writing competition is good. I assume HP=Harry Potter? Maybe have the prize be a free commission of fan fiction or fan art.

Whats a free commission?

1) It to be relevant to my interests.
If I sign up, it's because I'm interested in discussing the subject.

2) nicely designed.
MLK has held me for so long because of just how simple and easy to use while just looking nice, it is...

3) A decent community.

This means you need to be moderating the boards well, if I see a ton of posts that just make me roll my eyes, I'm not going to join even IF i'm interested. Without a like minded community who all get a long well, it's just not the same at all.

I don't really know, just do the best job you can of making the forum as good as it can be, if you are passionate enough about it then you will probably figure most of this our for yourself eventually

yea,im trying to make it look appealing as well.
Like a black gackgorund with colors b=merging but not too dark,well dark but nicely corresponded.Ugh!

All you need is a luck. I've owned 3 gaming forums before and they've all became successful. One of them is still running and active.

Some tips: own domain (it makes people think this is truly a fan site), clear and easy theme (ie. people love the original subsilver2)
