honestly I would get a custom desktop buy all the best for it at the time to build the best gaming pc I could get my hands on, BUT I would have either windows XP or windows 7. The reason I say XP is cause it is very compatible.. the only game i know of that doesn't run on it... is Battlefield 3... yeah.. i'm not losing anything but I am gaining the ability to play some of my older but awesome games without cracks/hacks/mods etc

Windows XP is probably the most compatible version of windows with older programs the only thing is Microsoft is ending support for it on 4/8/14 :( They claim there doing it to get people to move to a modern OS even though I don't think it will work because there are people still using Windows 98 even though support ended for it. :P Or maybe they want more people to buy Windows 8 :?

I might build a desktop sometime :? if I have the money :P my laptop is fine for me right now it does everything I want it to do and fast :) the only thing I don't like about it is I wish the screen was bigger (my old laptop was 15" and my new one is 13" :P ), and the hard drive is noisy

I really love my current build, I just wish it had 3x EVGA Titans in SLI inside her! If only I had a few grand...

If your going for a gaming PC, an i7 and a 630 will bottleneck your system really fast!

What KC said is true.
Plus, why get an LGA 1155 socket Mobo and CPU when the new Haswells were just released? (For almost the same price)

I would suggest that you go with a GTX 660 and an i5 processor for gaming.
Just my two cents. :D
