Who braved the Black Friday Sales?

I just got back from Wal-Mart's 10 PM Thursday sale. I was looking to see if I could get the Lion King for $16.96 as advertised

The DVD is $12.96 and Bluray is $16.96.

But it turns out that particular item doesn't go on sale until Friday at 8am. :wha4:

I should have read the ad more closely
So, I'll be waking up tomorrow at 7:30 and going back to get it. :sleepy: Has anyone else decided to brave the lines of Black Friday for a chance at good deals, TLK-related or otherwise?

I would, but I don't have the cash to brave the sales. I am saving all I can for X-Plane 10, and more importantly, a better GPU.

Nope.avi online ordering FTW
Plus I live in the UK so its only really Amazon for me that is really affected by it lol, but I did get a game for the PS3 that would otherwise be £30+ for like £8 which was pretty great.
Also a lot of things on there like electronics have had a hefty price drop as well so I might get a few things from there too...

I didn't this year, reason being I am not a shopaholic who buys things only because they are on sale. The deals aren't even that good tbh. It's also crazy out there during Black Friday sales. People have literally been trampled by the crowds and killed. The whole thing is ridiculous.

Well, I went back at 8am, but the Lion King slot on the Bluray aisle was empty. I'm thinking people grabbed them throughout the night and hid them at other parts of the store. So now I have to order it online and pay for shipping. It wasn't a total loss though, I found Seasons 1 and 2 of Fringe, that normally sell for $40 each, for $10 each. So I saved 75% or $60 :D

This was my first year attempting this feat and it was actually pretty calm for me, although to be fair I lively in a fairly small city. I saw no fights or shoving or even yelling. I arrived around 10:15pm and was able to navigate the store within about ten minutes. The lines looked to be a 45 minute wait, but I didn't check out that evening. Now as for this morning, you couldn't even tell it was Black Friday. The store seemed deserted, which was surprising given that merchandise was still there, albeit 80% gone, but still. I had fun and found some unbelievable deals. I overheard someone say that it was the worst she'd ever seen it, and if that's true I will definitely be back next year, assuming they still do the 10pm sale; I will not be waking up at 4am. :x

^ To add for my previous post, the graphics card I am waiting for isn't even out yet. So Black Friday is just another day, because it can't effect something that doesn't exist yet.

To answer the initial question, no.

Although I am tempted to add 8GB of DDR3 to my computer, if I can buy it online for $30. That's nearly 8 times cheaper than memory was last year. Other than that, I think I'll hold off on any upgrades until the next generation of consoles.

Some stores have their own independent annual sales anyway. One of the coolest IMO being Tesco who last year did a VAT free sale on all games and tech (meaning everything was 30% off, quite handy as my old PS3 died the week before! ^^) yeah that was sweet, you could pick up games that were only a few months old for like, the same price as a Big Mac meal.
