since its on disney+.

finished the first ep. i had forgotten how little this had to do with the first movie and was even more of a “what if” comedy than tlk 1/2.

on its own merits its not bad. the art and animation are decent same with writing and voice acting... some of the jokes are clever... its just...

i wish the regular cast from the first movie were more than once in a while glorified cameos. keep it a “what if” spinoff comedy but simba and nala need to be a part of the regular cast. heck, every tlk character needed to be a part of the cast.

wouldnt have made it the tlk tv series i wanted in the 90’s but it would have been so much better.

oh and no human characters. seeing timon and pumbaa interact with humans.... mixing humans with tlk is like mixing daycare centers with boa constrictors. you just dont do it!

Yeah I had gone back and watched a few episodes on Disney+ I will watch the other episodes eventually. I love the show, but I drove Myself nuts trying to figure out where it fit in the canon. I didn't realize it was a separate canon until Lion King 1 1/2 came out. Nala being on the show would have been awesome.

Think of it like DC’s Elseworlds comics. Those are non-canon what if stories.

Very non-canon, yes. As a fan of Timon, I never got into it much, at least after Nathan Lane left. The first few episodes with him had substance though, and the show was also recognized by the Daytime Emmy's (he also won for it). I think it was originally made due to Timon and Pumbaa's popularity. I'm glad it is getting new audiences on Disney+, especially the young generation that didn't know anything about The Lion King universe. It may make them look up the movies. :)

Quinton Flynn, voice of Raiden in Metal Gear Solid and Axel in Kingdom Hearts voiced Timon in the show besides Nathan Lane and Kevin Schon.
