Ok so a new Black Panther trailer (set in the marvel cinematic universe) just dropped. Some noticed similarities between it and the lion king

It also could just be a coincidence but the tagline for the movie is ‘long live the king’.

Not the first tlk reference in the mcu, there’s a poster for the broadway show in The Avengers.

And if you’ve seen Captain America Civil War the story of t’challa has a few similarities to the lion king.

Maybe all just coincidences but since both BP and TLK are Disney maybe not?

There are definitely similarities between T'Challa and Simba's character journeys with their birthright as prince and heir to the kingdom and witnessing their father's deaths. I wouldn't be surprised if Black Panther uses a similar African mythology that likens itself to the spiritual themes of Lion King.
