I fell in love with the Original cast myself, until I heard the Spanish, French, Japanese, and eventually South African versions. After that, I prefer not to listen to the Original.

I would say the spanish one for 2 reasons:
1. Because It's my country (look how original I am XD)
2. My friends and theater mates sang it (Yamileth, aka Young Nala in the CD recording, is one of my bests friends :D)

A new cast recording from the Mexican cast came out about a week ago. I'm waiting for my copy to arrive. Very exciting.

There is no Australian cast recording. They got the regular US version.

Had to go with the English soundtrack. It's probably my second favourite TLK soundtrack next to Rhythm of the Pridelands, and of course the original movie soundtrack is up there too, that's a given...

The South African soundtrack is pretty awesome because it includes some of the broadway score, or at least the one I listened to had a few excerpts in-between the tracks and underneath some dialogue, like when Rafiki is painting Simba's drawing on the tree. The German soundtrack has such bold vocals, and it contains my favourite version of Grasslands Chant. I think their rendition is the way it should be performed. I enjoyed young Simba's vocals quite a bit on the Spanish soundtrack too, especially during Hakuna Matata.
