some fans consider him a different character, or consider him in place of Kopa. typically they're given the same, or extremely similar, designs. but Disney says that the cub at the end of TLK is really supposed to be Kiara, not Kopa/Tanabi. and that was the origin of Tanabi, some fans using the name Tanabi for that cub before TLK2:SP came out and TLK6NA was well known. it was supposedly official, but there's no evidence for it as the cub's name is never mentioned (except in edited versions that refer to it as Kiara). mostly it came about from being used on the TLK Mailing List.

if Moka has any of the new character profiles up on the main site, the one I wrote about Tanabi should explain it.

Tanabi is totally fan-made. But Kopa is real just in a TLK story book. Chaka was going to be Kiara's twin brother but was cut...Maybe Chaka was killed by Zira and Kopa ran away to start his own pride... Tanabi was just another name for Kopa I guess but it was changed to Kopa.

But why would he run away to start his own pride? He was going to be the king!

Maybe he couldn't take that responsibility... poor poor Kopa!

He might have made it awkward for Kovu in that case

I think Tanabi is just another name for Kopa. I prefer Kopa, does Tanabi even mean anything? And the pic of Tanabi was made by an artist called Akril in TLKFAA. I think she didn't even know Kopa when she drew it. That's why it looks different from Kopa.

Maybe he knew that all the lionesses of the pride were his close relatives...
