As a (pretty obvious) TLK fan, this would have been by far the most awesome thing I would have ever seen. However, I'm honestly not surprised they didn't do it, though I did have a nice giggle at the article and even the mere thought of the Archbishop of Canterbury holding up a baby

However, the request was turned down as it was deemed an issue that was "outside the responsibility of the government".

If the government can't figure out how important this is, we're all screwed.

the UK government had a chance to do something funny and decent, and they don't do it... anyone else surprised?

Haha I was about to say "MJ does it and is ridiculed as a menace to society. Yet we are all in favor of the royal family doing the same thing but dangling our future king over a balcony."
No surprises here, but I bet if it was America then they would have done it.
