This is something I've noticed recently while making OCs.
The first time we see Nuka, his colour seems to be similiar to Zira's:

But when we see him in the Pride Lands (full adult now), he seems to have grey fur:

While I believe that the colours on the Outlands are way brighter, I also noticed this.. The first time we see young Kovu, he has dark brown fur:

The second time we see him in the Outlands, he has bright brown fur (lightning, I know):

But when we see him as an adult, his fur colours are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT..

You say that the colours in the Outlands are brighter? Well, here's a screengrab of young Kovu... in the Pride Lands:

Almost the same as the one in the Pride Lands.. Do you think his colours changed as he grew up, or that his colours still look like the ones in the Outlands when he's a cub because they're just out of the Outlands?

I think SP colours were quite poorly done, in any situation. Don't get me started on Simba and Nala's colours!
Even the trees, grass, sky and rocks are wierd; too purple or orange.
So I think it's just badly done, that's all.

I don't think Nuka's colors ever looked like Zira's. He's too reddish for that and I don't see a difference in Kovu's colors. They're always reddish brown and tan with a dark brown tuft or mane.

Yes, but as an adult, his fur colour seems WAY darker.. I compared them:

I find some of their colours different... But then again, it was sunset when we saw cub Kovu in the Pride Lands, and we also see these colours during the exile scene:

So it could have been just lightning. (I still prefer the 'Kovu changed colours' idea for fan-art and OC purposes. )

Hmm... I think it has to do with the lighting in some scenes. After all, the sun is most likely in different parts of the sky in all the images, in might be more cloudy in some, etc. It's also not unheard of for a lion's colors to change slightly as it gets older, but that's another story. xP

I always has been seen them with the same color that they have as cubs, I don't seen much difference, I guess some might but I don't, it seen that the change of their fur color is made no because of their age, but rather for the tone of light and dark in the scenes

I'm sorry but i really don't think they look that different. I think it's just lighting.

I know that at least a few of the characters like to shift colors as SP goes on, but I'm not sure of my opinion here.

Wasnt it just the lighting?

There were some lighting shifts, but I'm pretty sure there were still some changes, still I'm not sure.
