I think it is definitely Timon. His "conversation" with Rafiki makes it very obvious.

Timon, for sure. We get way more insight into his background than Pumbaa's and generally more scenes that fixate on him. Probably because he's the more interesting of the duo.

I think it's very obvious from everything of this film that at least the writers (particularly Tom Rogers), had a particular interest in Timon.

The plot itself may not be very well developed. But it was developed enough to make this distinction on the subject of this topic.

Yes it is Timon's story. Lion King 1 1/2 is a Lion King movie that is not about Simba or his Pride.

Haven't revisited the deleted scenes in a long time but I think a lot revolves around Timon - including his dad - so yes this seems to be Timon's story.
