Why did Simba say he had to "go", and why did he call Timon or Pumbaa "Pops"?

Lions (like most mammals) do urinate, and they even urinate backwards like most felines in the Felidae species due to body configuration.
I felt Simba called Timon "Pops" because he accepted him as his stepfather after living with him (and Pumbaa) for some years in the jungle.

I have no idea.
then again, this is a direct to video sequel. They have their flaws. You're gonna have to accept that.

Well, that at least explains a scene I found confusing in "Life of Pi".

I think after all that time in the Jungle, Simba saw Timon as his 'father'.

People don't call their stepparents "Mom" and "Dad" nowadays, at least not that I know of. This makes me think the film's timeframe could be at least 70-80 years ago.

That is a more a choice on the part of the child in question rather than any kind of rule or formal practice. Obviously Simba felt Okay with using a parental title on Timon.

But…but…he isn’t. Mufasa is. No one can replace him.
