Remember that at the time, his main gig was Mr. Bean - a character of all action and hardly any words. Just about the antithesis to a voice actor, so I can understand why he would be hesitant to do voice-work.

mr bean? i’d argue that blackadder was a bit more important and the greatest sitcom ever. He certainly showed his acting chops there.

No, seriously, if you havent seen blackadder I highly recommend seasons 2-4 of it.
