Do you feel they overreacted a little? I mean, they should have been happy for their friend.

Timon and Pumbaa are the comic relief of the film, so it was supposed to be funny.

Also as you said, yes, they were annoyed (Timon in particular) about Nala coming in and taking Simba away from them in a sense. Think about the lengths they went to in TLK1.5 to split them up!
