I somewhat agree with you, WS. This was destined to be just a popularity contest and I don't think anyone can deny that. On the other side, though, apparently certain members were dissatisfied with the way it used to be done. I feel like, with this way, at least the members could say that they had their say and that if the chosen moderator faltered, blame couldn't be laid solely on the staff for choosing him/her. It seemed like a pretty foolproof system, until something like this came along. >_>
Had Simbaholic or Amanda gained or lost one little vote, provided Snowy and Silly stayed the same, we wouldn't be having this conversation at all because they'd be top 3 -- like they are now, only more clearly. That's the frustrating aspect about this; everyone has their own opinions of how everything should be scored, due in part to certain members having their heart set on getting the spot. It's something you don't want to see and with one little vote could have been abolished. Sucks, but what can you do?
Best thing to do is to just have Moka or someone from the staff provide the end-all decision. If it's three, cool. If it's five, cool. Just get it over with, choose the next mod, and let's get back to our mundane lives, por favor.
EDIT: Said Moka in the first post of the thread:
For review: after voting closes, we will be taking the 3 nominees that were voted for the most and choose 1 from those 3 to become the new staff member. We will announce our choice within 3 days.
3 that were voted for the most. Wouldn't that be, you know, the ones Moka chose? Flip, Amanda and Simbaholic?
