Disney investor meeting on the tenth, there they will talk about upcoming slate of movies. We might learn some new info on this one.

Just talked about the remakes in the investor presentation. First mentioned Lion King is having a prequel with Barry Jenkins, but that's it. Mentioned The Little Mermaid cast, and that's all. Oh and Hans Zimmer is coming back.

They said it was a prequel. In fact they didn't mention anything of it being a sequel.... which is curious.

Hmm so we didn’t really get anything we didn’t know unfortunately. But if I recall they did say at least a DRAFT of the script was complete when it was first announced.

Surprised with no mention of Glover or Beyonce yet if I’m being completely honest. I refuse they believe they’ll not use them again. Which is why I think it’s still gonna go back and forth like others mentioned.

the guy who wrote the music for "if beale street could talk" is doing the musical numbers. whether that means melodies, lyrics or both I am not sure.

@Elton John: I may have heard wrong, but when I watched the video I believe He said it was a prequel of sorts? Although I guess they could have have decided to do a just a prequel. :?

Yes, that is what I said.

They didn't give a release year when they gave release years for many other projects.... curious.

Perhaps since this is not only a movie made for theaters and not Disney+ and also a grand undertaking, they want to make sure they know it will be completed in time for sure before locking in a release year?

unless i'm remembering incorrectly, all i heard was they're in preproduction still. (other than the prequel stuff, barry and hans zimmer)

yeah. i doubt the movie is in actual production now. we might find out voice casting decisions next year.

once production starts we will get more info.
