Wait, there's a trailer now? Crap. I need to watch this. I'll comment more later; I've already been too busy analyzing the new Star Wars teaser this weekend.

The only issue I have with Scar is that he seems very small for an adult lion. Other than that the trailer looks nice.

I gotta be honest, I haven't really liked anything what I've seen or heard about this remake. The whole thing just seems so unnecessary to me, and I honestly just... dislike what I see.

But, if you're correct in some of your ideas and they're bringing in elements from The Lion Guard, or loosely tying it into this movie (similar to the route Disney has taken with Star Wars and tying the animated series into the movies very closely), that would be awesome. It could show they might have more planned for the franchise and building it into a bigger, more connected universe as a whole, which has been the "big trend" recently. TLG was really the first of the "new Disney shows" that they're making based on their movies, and while it was a decent hit I'd say, it never really managed to take off because of its limitations to such a young audience and I feel like Disney as a company kind of lost its hopes in it themselves. But they've since learned and taken pretty big steps in their other new shows to make them far less "kid-oriented" and just taking them more seriously. So what we could end up getting is a completely new TLK-series with a more grown-up approach (and since TLG is coming to an end, I'd hope the same creators got their chance at working on something like that with the same characters and concepts they've helped built). Of course, it's all speculation at this point, but I've said it many times that, with TLG being a decent success and this new remake coming out, especially if it financially does well, I think they might have more planned for the franchise. They've been pushing it quite a bit recently.

So yeah, while I'm not a fan of much I'm seeing about this remake film, if it helps kickstart bigger things like that for the franchise, that would be awesome. Time will tell.

I don't quite agree that adult wild males look like Scar. Scar here is too thin.

Look at these males. They are athletes, no excess fat.

Judging by its mane, that is a young adult male lion. More mature lions have darker fur underneath their manes in which, in a way, they resemble Scar.

Yesm he's just 4 years old. Mapogos' descendant.
The age of Simba when he returned I think.

I thought that Lioness that Scar passed by might be Nala. Thanks for clarifying that.

If he is, then that's just a good thing in my opinion. Scar is supposed to be scrawny for a lion. I think it's a big reason (though certainly not the only one) in the original movie why he has such an inferiority complex towards Mufasa.

"Well, as far as brains go, I got the lion's share. But when it comes to brute strength, I'm afraid I'm at the shallow end of the gene pool.”

So if he is small for an adult lion, then at least they got that part right. I still don't personally like his overall design otherwise, though.

I very much have to respectfully disagree. You all have been presented by skewed lion beauty standards!

Actually though, Scar's really not abnormally thin; part why he looks unusual is because again, most peoples' basis for a healthy male lion is a really thickly built individual like Mufasa (rocking the ideal male lion bod and mane) and so that's what you tend to get in media. But there's also the fact that most of the images of Scar have so far been from front angles that make his rear portion look small and thus skewed by perspective. (Which is also part of the reason why most people seem to overlook the fact that his mane is actually mostly black -- or at least proportionately more so than both Mufasa and Simba's -- just obscured by perspective in most shots.) When you look at him from a full side-on view (the picture attached is the best and only one so far released) he looks pretty normal, not too dissimilar in build to decently healthy but leaner individuals like these:

Just goes to show who got the "shallow end of the gene pool" when you have bodybuilder Mufasa for a brother.
