Kiara's Interest as Queen

Based on the clip, doesn't it seem out of character for Kiara?

From the second film, she was the complete opposite of Simba as a cub since she expressed a disinterest in becoming queen whereas Simba was excited about becoming king when he was her age. This seems to make it out that Kiara is wanting to becoming queen and kinda rubs it in Kion's face based on her attitude ("At least I have my life figured out. What are you gonna grow up to be, little brother?")

It just seems very odd to see Kiara act this way because she comes off as snobbish. :/

Since TLG is set between the two movies, it may be possible that "new Kiara" is a past "form" of hers, that was changed by a yet unknown event, just like it happened with Simba.

Now, here's something I've noticed: If I recall correctly, on the official trailer, we can see Kiara, in the middle of a gazelle stampede, screaming for help. Funnily enough, in this clip, Simba says that Kiara "will be tracking gazelles with her friends". I believe that the two events are connected and that that stampede will be the explanation for Kiara's change in personality (From "snob" to the "I don't wanna be Queen-Kiara" seen in SP).

Of course, however, there's the possibility that I'm wrong. If so, Kiara seems to be portrayed in a way that assures the development of Kion's character and personality, instead of truthful to the Kiara seen in SP. It'll be weird and slightly hard to get use to her, then.

It's playful ribbing. She seems kind of annoyed at kion due to him interrupting an important father/daughter moment and possibly at him not taking being a royal cub seriously.

Also personality changes can be explained by the fact that she is an older cub now.

Did you have the same personality when 12 as you did as an 8 year old?

Seems very out of character for her.... :huh4: I assume this is meant to take place after she grows out of the "don't want to be queen" phase. Maybe she started changing her mind after "We Are One". The sibling rivalry shown here is interesting.

Im starting to think this kiara is after she met kovu, since she wants to be queen and after "we are one"

I agree with "this is older Kiara than SP" theory. I mean, Kiara in SP is more "innocent" and playful. But in the clip, she seems more mature and starts to realize what her responsibility is. Or it's just her manner makes me feel this way.

Exactly I agree with you all 100%, and I assumed this way back from the start, we all change as teenagers, we all know people change anyway, same thing here with Kiara, im so glad the lot of you figured this out, this pleases me

To me it seems like Kiara is moving far from her personality from the second film. She seems absolutely thrilled with the idea of being Queen, but it never seemed apparent that she wanted the crown even when she got older in the film. It seems to me Disney is going all out with this women leading nations, racial diversity in films, and any other "sensitive" topic these days. Kiara shoudn't even be a queen so long as Kion was born. The rules of monarch succession always favor the male regardless of who was born first. Maybe I am being too "traditionalist," but it seems to me Disney doesn't want to even recognize reality anymore. Anyway back on topic it just seems that Disney is dismissing the second movie as of right now.

I think like most have said that this is just the usual banter between a brother and sister. Albeit with royal implications. The only thing I find odd is that due to Kiara and Kion obviously being littermates, her Little Brother crack does not have the same sting it would if Kiara was significantly older than Kion. I feel that there is still potential that Disney could make The Lion Guard fit with The Lion King 2. I am eager to see what they do.

There are two systems of primogeniture sucestion. One, the most popular, is based on gender (males over females regardless of their age) and one is based on age (the oldest child is always the succesor regardless of gender) and most of modern monarchies have this system.
