Hiya everyone

Could anyone please tell me if there was ever anything explained about Zira's character maybe from a director of the movie? Or does anyone have a point of view on her? Like why she is so obsessed with Scar? At some point in the movie she yelled at Kovu "You've killed your own brother!" as if she's disgusted by it yet the lion she worships killed his brother and blamed his little nephew and tried to get him killed aswell! Did Zira not know about Scar's past or was she just a hypocrite?

Here's what Simba's Pride director Darrell Rooney wrote on Facebook back in March 2011:



Zira is obsessed with Scar because she just is, believes Scar was wrongly murdered (and wants to avenge his death), and believes Kovu is his rightful heir, not Simba. Like Rooney said above, her background relationship with Scar is unknown so her obsession of him makes her look insane because there is no given reason to explain their relationship (if they even had one). As for Zira's supposed "hypocrisy", she probably knew that Scar murdered his own brother, but she just didn't care. In her mind, Scar is the true, rightful king, and his chosen heir must be his successor. This thread touches on this topic.

Thanks and thanks for the other thread. The "killed your own brother" line always annoyed me considering she was a scar follower. She didn't seem to care much for Nuka before he died and she seems that insane that I'm actually quite surprised that she wasn't proud of Kovu for "killing Nuka" as she would probably think he was getting more like Scar! But obviously she did care for Nuku as we saw at his death.
