Giving it away?

Ok, I watched The Lion King today and everyone should know that Scar planned for Simba to go to the Elephant Graveyard and the Hyenas being their and how small his roar was and Scar was above Simba and Nala, but when Simba and Scar were in the gorge, don't you think Scar was giving it away that he was there when Simba roared at the Hyenas? He said "Oh... and just between us, you might want to work on that little roar of yours. Hmm?" how could he have known about that? Unless he was told, but I'd love it if someone would clear it up for me

I have thought about that many times myself.. It was quite careless of Scar to say that to Simba. But at the same time I don’t think Simba would have drawn the conclusion that Scar was at the Elephant Graveyard. He just got offended.. Scar could have heard Simba "working on his roar" at some point earlier.

Good find! I never noticed that. I'm kind of surprised Simba didn't pick up on that, though. Seeing as Scar went out of his way to reveal that little bit of information, I think it's kind a plot hole that it never came up again later in the movie.

Scar lead Simba to believe from that start that "everyone" knew about the elephant graveyard and what happened there. The "little roar" comment was part of the charade.

*slaps forehead* Doh, I totally forgot about that.

Of course Simba would have no reason to suspect Scar of anything then.

Precisely what Mike said. ^^ It was all part of the hoax to get Cubby Simba to believe that everyone knew about the events that took place the day before. :)

That's also what I was thinking. Mufasa was there at the end... he must have heard Simba's little roar and Simba thought Mufasa told Scar about it.

Best explanation I've heard!
I'd also picked up on this recently, and wondered about it, but I just simply came to the conclusion that Simba's mind simply didn't put two and two together...or that he thought Scar was referring to some other roaring episode, instead of the one at the graveyard.
But Mike's explanation makes cuch more sense to me!

I was just thinking about this...
Yeah,it would have been a plot hole and quite careless from Scar to give it away. But as Mike said,it's really so cunning,it may have lead Simba to believe that either Nala Zazu or even Mufasa was telling around what a weak roar he had. It might have made Simba mad at them actually...

I don't think it would've been a plot hole in any case. I mean, Simba must've been practicing his roar quite a lot. He even said it in his song, that he's working on it. So naturally he would've just thought that uncle Scar had heard him working on it at any random point.
