...you are my son, and the one true king...
:ghost:
We all know this miraculous moment, yes? Mufasa seems to only address Simba, but could it be a message to the viewers as well? There are many different messages in The Lion King, Rafiki's is to put the past behind you, Timon and Pumbaa's is to not worry about life, so I have a feeling Mufasa had his own little moral- but what do YOU think it means? If Mufasa was addressing us all, what could he mean? Remember...

Never forget who you truly are inside. No matter what happens in our lives, we still are the same person deep down, even though we might forget this sometimes. ^^ As for the "you are my son and the one true king" part, I think that was only directed towards Simba. lol. ^^ Unless everyone is related to Mufasa, in which case, that would be AWESOME!!! :) Unless you're female, in which case, it would be AWKWARD!!! lol. ^^

I agree with KM, we don't have to forget who we are, even when in live things don't go well, and for the part of "You are my son and the one true king" was refer to Simba

Oooo, lovely explanation :) shame he didn't say that to Scar, that deep down he was still the same small, fluffy, scarred little cubby xD

Yeah, TLK presents several key messages and morals, which is why it works so well as a family movie! Not only is it entertaining, it teaches us some valuable life lessons.

Mufasa's key line of "Remember who you are..." is a message to everyone watching the film, plain and simple. It's meant to remind us that no matter how bad things become, or how things change in our lives, we are still the same...and only we ourselves can change that...no-one else.

For me, these sort of 'messages' are part of what makes this film an absolute, timeless classic! The way they are part of the story of Simba, without distracting from the real story being presented, is amazing as well!

This important line teaches alot about staying the same person you are inside of yourself and fulfill what you need to do in life. Important way of saying to yourself "You need to face the world". Great mortal moment of Mufasa.
