..Much? Too innocent? Too blind?

Well, it is based off Romeo & Juliet which is a mushy play but it seems even more romantic.

At times it seems like a couple of love-blind teenagers wrote this. Kovu and Kiara act, well, exactly like humans there age tend to.

Kovu and Kiara's personalities seem to revolve mostly around this romance of theres.

That would be fine, if it weren't for the pure fact that the movie makes it seem like their romance is the best and most right thing ever at times.
A lot of the others things in the story are far more interesting; I wouldn't mind if they did a 1/2 type thing about the Outsiders except it just revolves around their lifes and what they were doing around the time.

I used to find the romance to be perfect and adorable as a child however now that I'm a teenager..Such Disney-type romances just make me gag. Maybe it's just me though.

'Could of happened too if they weren't as mushy-mushy or just friends.

But that wasn't my point.

I don't know but the romance is exactly why I don't like this film much. I think this film's story would've been better if it told about Kopa & the times when Simba banished Zira & co. Would've been much more original plot, too.

I really don't have an answer though other than the movie was a rewrite of Romeo and Juliet without them both dying and their love was supposed to reconcile the two prides of lions so to speak.

Considering we're talking about a Disney movie aimed to please audiences primarily under the age of 10, not really, no.

Methinks you're taking this a bit too seriously... Just my $.02

The love aspect of this movie was one of the key points of it though, that's why it was so highly emphasized. I disagree with you on the point that the prides could have been brought together if Kovu and Kiara didn't fall in love. It was Kovu's love for Kiara and Kiara's love for Kovu that changed Kovu's mindset and made him realize that what he was originally instructed to do was wrong. If he had just been casual friends with Kiara, that wouldn't have been enough to stop him from perhaps carrying out his plan. You say that Kovu and Kiara act like teenagers in love. Well, aren't they? lol. I just think you're ideals of love differ from that of what Disny was going for is all. To me, the love in this movie was one of its most appealing aspects but I'm a romantic at heart so that might be the reason why. ^^ Still, I think without the love aspect of this film, it definitely wouldn't have worked.

Could it have worked without the love aspect? Yeah. Would it have worked as well? I doubt it.

I do kinda agree with you in that perhaps the young love was almost too innocent, but heck, the young love I've both experienced and noticed over the past 10-ish years of my life have been pretty innocent as well. If anything, it makes it almost more believable.

And yeah, there seems to be a bit of an emphasis on the young love between Kovu and Kiara, but I mean, isn't that what it's meant to be about? You gotta focus on something... this is simply what they decided to focus on, I guess. Plus, it's not like it wasn't essential to the plot. The reason the two prides came together? The love that blossomed between Kovu and Kiara. Now, the love that exists between them could be debated (meaning, could they both have rushed in too quickly, could Kovu honestly have had such a quick change of heart, etc, etc), but the fact still remains that there's love there and it's pretty much the basis for the conjoining of the two prides at the end of the movie.

Long story short for me... yeah, perhaps their love was pretty innocent, blind, whatever. But isn't that what most young love is?
