Why exactly did Nala and Simba fall in love?

Other then due to Disney thinking that two friends of the opposite sex cannot stay friends and that Simba needed a love interest.
Love is blind, yadda yadda. I know that. 'Heard it a million times and preached it quite a few.
You can argue they liked each other as cubs however even then it seemed abrupt. They meet, they act like BFFs, and they fall in love due to Timon. Their romance also seemed a bit rushed to me.
I think it's one of those cases where you haven't seen someone in a long time and are attracted to them. Like..Genetic sexual attraction, except they're most likely not related.

Yeah I think they missed eachother and that was was the main factor but it does seem pretty quick.

Yeah I guess they had some feeble base to fall in love eventually, but it indeed was way too quick. And I think it's really only because Disney can't make a cartoon without a romantic love scene&song. *SIGH* This film is already very outstanding among the classics. Having them not fall in love just there would've made it a whole lot more so.

I blame the rushed nature of their love on the fact the movie was limited to ninety minutes. It'd be tricky to fit decent development into the story if they had ninety minutes set aside just for the love-making part of the movie; but alas they had a lot more they had to do. Ya know, like going back and beating Scar and taking back Pride Rock.
I'm sure they -could- have spent a couple extra weeks out in the forest getting to know each other better, but there were slightly more pressing matters to attend to at the time.

I don't think their love was rushed at all. In my opinion, i'ts clear that Simba and Nala like each other as cubs. They just don't understand the concept of love yet. After Simba disappears and we see Scar telling the lionesses what happened, Cubby Nala is balling her eyes out. I mean, Simba was her best friend but wouldn't that be a clue about her deeper feelings for him? Anyways, after finding out that Simba's alive, Nala even confesses how much she's missed him and how much he means to her, so again, she obviously knew that there was more than friendship there to begin with. If you had a best friend who you liked when you were younger and thought they were dead, only to be reunited with them quite a while later, I think that's more than enough to spark a romantic love and in my eyes, it's justified.

Hehe. In my version of the film, Nala weeps only one tear (during what is shown on screen anyway.) That's not exactly balling her eyes out.
I'm still saying this film could have and would've stood strong and the same without the falling-in-love element. And in my opinion, been slightly more realisti then.

I don't think so. They had the cub only when the Pridelands had already grown green again and all the animals had returned. That must have taken some time.

it takes time for the baby to form and them to give birth, so the process of getting a cub was fast

@ NalasTrueMate Um, that makes no sense. lol. ^^
@SuperBabySimba: lol, it was a figure of speech but whatever. And realism? Really? lol. Not sure how that would work but okay. ^^
