As we all know (and have discusses in other threads), Sarafina has only one line.

Just to clear this up, this is not a duplicate of the thread about Sarafina deserving more than one line. what this thread is intended for is to discuss what, if she were to have more than one line, her lines would be? Give us your thoughts

I read on a forum a long time ago that Sarafina had the following lines originally, before the Bath Scene was shortned down to what it is today.

"Nala, you just had a bath!"

"Try and stay clean for once!"

"And come back before sunset!"


Anyway, if Sarafina should have more lines, I suppose they would have to be added to the Bath scene, it seems to be the best and most natural place.

To be honest, I’m surprised that Sarafina didn’t seem to understand that Simba was up to something. I mean, she was bathing Nala at the same time Simba whispered to her "I’ll tell you when we get there." If she did hear him, it’s odd that she didn’t ask about where they were going, or at the very least tell Nala to be careful before the she left.

But yeah, here are a couple of my suggestions to lines Sarafina could have had:

[Bathing Nala, right before Simba comes] "Oh Nala, how you always manage to get so dirty, I’ll never know" and similar lines, like "Stop squirming" etc.

[Expanded line] What do you think, Sarabi? Should we let the cubs visit this "cool" place? (it could give a hint that Sarafina too understood that they were up to something, so she didn’t look clueless compared to the wise Sarabi.)

Nala: "Mom, can I go with Simba?" Sarafina: "Yes, I trust you to be careful and sensible." or something like that.

I'd also imagine her standing up to Scar when he slaps Sarabi near the end, right before Simba roars.. Maybe something like, "Leave Sarabi alone!" or something cheesy like that lol.

lol yeah. But if Sarafina were to say something there, it would kinda spoil the epic moment where Scar spots Simba.

Hopefully something that would suggest some sort of character development / backstory.

Sarafina: (during Nala's bath) "Mmm, tastes like chicken."

That would be great. But the sad thing is that Sarafina is such a minor character, being the mother of the hero’s love intrest doesn’t earn her a huge ammount of screentime nor a bunch of meaningful lines. Although I would certainly love for her to have more of a backstory and a developed personality.

having more lines for Sarafina that would give us idea of her personality

They could develop a allegory on Sarafina, similar to what they did with Timon and Pumbaa.
