In this screenshot from TLK, seconds before Mufasa's talk with Simba after the incident at the elephant graveyard, we see Mufasa sitting in the grass. I just noticed that (at least to me, anyway), his profile looks very similar to Simba's. It could probably fool me if I didn't know which movie that screenshot was taken from.

You're right, I think we'd be hard pressed to find a frame where they looked more similar. Like father like son =3

I was quite surprised to find this, considering how obviously different Simba and Mufasa are in their appearance - build, mane, face, posture, everything! Then this...
I wonder if lighting made much of a difference.

Well, many people can't tell the difference between Simba and Mufasa anyway…including Simba's own mother…but nice find. Even to us fans he looks too similar...

For a second, I thought maybe they used an image of Simba - but that isn't possible unless they made the scenes out of order. And... If you look really closely, you can tell it's Mufasa's nose.

They did make the scenes out of order. The scene where Mufasa comes to Simba as a ghost was the last animated scene made in The Lion King.

O.o wonder why exactly they did it that way... perhaps they wanted to get more experience before they did that one, since it's pretty complicated?

Hmm.. I never really saw this, and don't think he looks much like Simba.
I think Mufasa's chin is just that little bit bigger.
I mean, everything else in the frame looks like Simba, but the chin and nose just show it's Mufasa to me.
Interesting thought though.

They do look very similar. In SP, Simba is bigger and more "filled-out," he seems to have grown after TLK. So I think that SP Simba is more similar to Mufasa than TLK Simba.
One way to tell them apart (in profile) is Mufasas excaggerated features, his big chin and massive shoulders. Simba’s not as huge as his father, even in SP.
