Okay so I was watching various parts of SP, and noticed when Scar morphs into Kovu, the scar remains. However, we all know this is long before Kovu gets his scar. Do you think its symbolic? Or a mistake?

It's foreshadowing. ^^ Also used to symbolize the relation between Scar and Kovu. :)

Yeah, that's what I thought. Wasn't sure though. At first I'm like, "Wait! He has his scar! Thats not right..."

it's because Simba thinks he's following in Scar's pawsteps and will be just like him. and as KM said, it's also foreshadowing later on that Kovu receives a Scar which happens to be when Simba thinks he had betrayed him.

I've noticed that too. Also, I've discerned that it betokens Kovu's deception truth of why he truly wanted to join Simba's Pride at first, but after the bridge was constructed between him and Kiara, Kovu dropped the original plan and decidedly to stay with the Pride. Kovu, hesitating to admit the truth to Kiara, was a bit too late when Simba interrupt's asking him to join in for a walk through the burned Pridelands, where Simba was abruptly surrounded and ambushed by the Outlanders. Resulting in Simba's escape, Nuka died and Zira blamed in on Kovu, who stood up for the first time and received a slash for Zira's paw, giving him a Scar that represents betrayal.

Going back to the dream, Simba foretells Kovu's false betrayal, giving the audience an apprehension on what happens later when Kovu gains Simba's trust.
