Scar or Temporary Wound?

How do we know that Kovu has a permanent scar on his face? If I remember correctly, the time between Zira hitting him and the end of the movie is less than 24 hours. That wouldn't have been enought time for the wound to heal anyway. Also, I'm no medical expert, but how would one scratch to the face cause a scar? If that's all it takes, you'd think everybody in the Pridelands would have 20-30. Remember that Cub Simba scratched the Hyenas in the first movie and Scar and Simba threw some claw at the climax of the first movie. They both got out fine (until it was dinner time)

Besides, I've always thought it was mean of the writers to give him a scar that looks just like...uh...Scar's. :tired2: That's like giving someone a permanent tattoo of Adolf Hitler's mustache in 1950s Germany. Everyone would look at you and think only of the evil person you resemble. I can just imagine Sarabi waking up, seeing Kovu's face, and having flashbacks.

I think it is indeed a Scar, if Kovu hadn't pulled back from Zira when she clawed him, Kovu may have lost his eye. Also Kovu's eye (or any eye for that matter) does not have much muscle mass. so there is not much to protect the eye from serious damage (even though in Kovu's case it was just a deep flesh wound)I think Kovu will have his scar for the rest of his life. Although I'm sure the Pride Landers (and the other inhabitants of the Pride Lands ) will quickly get used to seeing Kovu (rather that just seeing his scar) and it will be his personality not his scar that defines him.

First, we need to acknowledge that The Lion King II is an animated family movie, so I wouldn't expect too much realism in it. And, since this is a Lion King movie, the filmmakers took certain liberties with the animals and how they live their lives in the wild. For example, in the real world, a lion and a hyena are natural enemies, yet in the first movie, Scar (a lion) collabrates with hyenas, and I would equate with Kovu's flesh wound healing itself to become a facial scar within a day or two. So, in other words, don't expect this movie to be realistic with real-life animals or human facts.

However, in my opinion, I believe Kovu's scar started as a deep flesh wound, but towards the end of the movie, it slightly healed enough to become a scar. And, like SimbasGuard, Kovu's scar is permanent because I assume the filmmakers wanted to give Kovu a facial wound identical to Scar's, and Scar's was permanent until he died. So, the same situation should apply for Kovu's.

The fun is that it instantly appeares in that faded pink when Zira scratches him. Not red like when Simba scratched Shenzi.

They couldn't have left it red/sore like they should have; because it would be too much like blood! :flee:
- It would have had to remain like that throughout the rest of the movie - and that would be too much gore for a Disney movie. :fakeworry:

when Simba scratched Shenzi it was only on screen for a few seconds, so it was less of a problem.
Least I think :nuuuhhgirlfriend:

I think that a scratch is enough to make a scar, and my scrapes heal in just 20-30 minutes. IDK if it's just me or what :?

Permanent, it is permanent. No opinion, it is permanent. Also, scars scar was a sign of exile from his father, for threatening the life of his brother... Poor taka, ahadi should of just talked to him, if he did he wouldn't be the bitter twisted scar he lies as to today. Yes I know were talking about kovu's. He got his from anti-exile.

In real life, it would have healed up, I'm pretty sure. If she'd actually hit his eye with her claw (instead of the area around his eye) then that eye would have been blinded and would have glazed over, so she just got his forehead and his cheek, where the mark appears, and it probably would have healed. But, as TheLionPrince pointed out, this is an animated movie we're talking about, and I'm pretty sure the filmmakers intended for it to be a permanent reminder of Scar and what Kovu was raised to do (that, of course, being to avenge Scar).

I think it would certainly heal. My version of older Kovu doesn't have a scar. My horse got a horrific injury on his shoulder, there were 2 huge holes which constantly leaked blood and pus for 2 or 3 days. 2 months later, it's nothing more than a faint line which is fading by the day.
I wonder what makes a scar and what makes a wound which will heal. As the same horse does have some scars.
