Kovu's Scar

I was watching The Lion King 2 today and I've never thought of this before but I found it strange why no one questioned Kovu about his scar. I realise that the first time Simba saw him after getting his scar was during the 'One Of us' song, he was too busy yelling at him to care about the Scar (Though the animals where whispering about it and mentioned it in the song) but you'd think that maybe Kiara would have asked him what happend after 'Love Will Find Away' especially since it's big and very noticeable around the eye and the fact that it's incredibly similar to Scar's scar.

Anyway I have to rave for The Lion King 2, I love it, I definately think it's Disney's best 2nd film (Thought Cinderella 2 and Little Mermaid 2 where no good :P ) I like Lion King 2 almost as much as the first and the music is really good aswell, especially 'He Lives In You and One Of Us 8-)

You're right, I think at least Kiara would've been concerned with how he got it. :? I suppose you're right that Simba was too occupied with yelling at Kovu and being angry with him to actually notice the scar, but I would think that even then, since that holds so much memory for Simba, he would've at least seen it/taken notice of it/etc. But then, who knows. I do remember reading on TLK wiki that since they decided that he wouldn't be Scar's son that the scar he gets actually doesn't have any particular meaning, so perhaps that's why? Still, it doesn't make sense...

Maybe Kiara was too occupied with the fact that they were together again.

Now that you mention it, I would think that atleast Kiara was ask about the scar. :? She acted as though the scar never even existed. Like Ophelia said, I guess that Kiara was just too occupied with what was going on at the time. :3

I really wish we would've seen Kiara and Simba (and Nala, too, at that) reacting to the scar at some point in the movie, though. It just seemed like it was left off when it could've been such a vital point to the story, and I think it would've shown even more of Kiara's affection and love for Kovu if they would've included her concern over it. Poor choice on the film makers part, I suppose...

I can just imagine Simba's face, though.

Yeah. Kovu's scar doesn't really create nor serve any dramatic purpose in the story. It's a little dramatic when we first see it, but as we get further into the climax, it's pointless, and kind of strange how none of the other major characters even mentioned it. Although, I think Kiara was too happy to be with Kovu again after "Love Will Find a Way" to discuss how he obtained it.

Anyway, I can imagine when Kovu first gets his scar, he is thinking he is slightly more like Scar than he had hoped to be, although the film tried to differiante him from being like Scar since the two share similiar designs. And, it was symbolic that he is nothing like Scar because he was chosen to follow in his pawprints when he was an infant cub. So, to me, it is a step backwards, though I know already that Kovu is nothing like Scar.

it is a bit strange, but really, they all knew how he got it when you think about it. They all knew there was a ambush from the outlanders, he didn't have the scar before then, so it's safe to assume he got it Somehow during that whole ordeal. He proves he may have been influenced by Scar, he may look like Scar, but that doesn't make him Scar, he is his own lion and can choose to follow in the footsteps everyone thought he would, or be a better lion. The only lion that really reacted was his mother and that is probably all that was needed. It didn't matter to anyone else. they were worried about saving the pride to care about some little injury.

Agreed. Kiara showed no concern that her boyfriend was injured. Even random giraffes mentioned it before the lions did.
Its possible that she asked him after they got over the shock that they found each other again, and that just wasn't shown
