How much did Nala help Simba?

How much did Nala assist Simba in his kingly duties?

Broader Question: How much assistence and authority does the mate of the royal-blooded King/Queen have?

I'd say She was definitely an asset to Simba, I think she led the hunting party and I'd imagine she protected some of the cubbies from the Pridelands. What do you think?

Where we see that their opinions differ, it's Nala that was right. When they argued about whether Simba should return home, and where Nala reminds Simba that Kovu saved their daughter's life. So it's only rightful to assume that she would be a good advisor.

^ I have to agree here. Nala at least grew up in the Pridelands, and at least heard of stories of how a good king behaves (after Mufasa's death). This in turn would help her become a good queen, and with the help of Sarabi, she would be almost as important as Simba is when he returned and became king.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that Nala is "Big Brother" and Simba is simply the royal face, because in the end, he actually hold power, but I would assume that Nala has a major voice in all decisions that Simba makes.

In the argument in the first movie, Nala was the first one to really open up Simba's eyes to what was really going on in the Pridelands, and told him he just couldn't ignore everything. Then she got further help by Rafiki and the ghost of Mufasa. So, yeah, without Nala and those two, Simba maybe wouldn't have returned to the Pridelands at ALL. And in Simba's Pride, she's the one who tries to convince Simba to look beyond what he sees, regarding Kiara's and Kovu's relationship. And we all know how that story ends.

I think it's good for any rulor to have a good and wise second, who you can discuss what to do in different situations, no matter what the subject may be. If the ruler decides everything by himself/herself, then it's dictatorship.

I Imagine Nala is indispensable to Simba in his responsibilities as King, because whatever advise she gives him Nala is not just filling the role of an advisor but also thinking as his wife and closest friend. She gives Simba brilliant advice as to what to do about Kovu (When The Great Kings of the past had nothing to say.). She also manages to keep him calm when his temper might otherwise lead to a fight. (as evident when Kovu rescued Kiara from the fire). I also always felt that Nala was the brains of the outfit( No Simba was not a figurehead) as she is clearly the smarter of the two. As for how much Power Nala holds, I'd say the only one that could overrule her authority would be Simba, and I doubt he would do that without talking with Nala first.

I think that all that Nala did was find Simba. Nala's presence wasn't what convinced him to return. She helped him in the battle, but every other lion fought too. And I don't think I've ever seen Nala do anything "queenly", both in TLK and SP. I don't think Nala helps Simba that much (atleast not in the movies).

Judging only by the movies, we never see the queens do any royal duties. Neither Sarabi nor Nala help their mates in their ruling, in the movies.

But I think the thread starter meant all along what is going in their every day life, which we don`t see in the movies. And that part of the TLK universe is for the fans to discuss. And judging by the movies we can tell that Nala is at least as wise as Simba, if not more so.

Oh, okay P: In that case, I assume that the Queens assist the Kings everyday, with royal duties and all. ^^

I imagine that Nala leads the lionesses (with hunting and stuff) and Simba is the symbol of the Pride
