IMAX or 4K?

As the days near the release of TLK 3D at the theaters, I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not to go see TLK on IMAX or regular 4K screen. I was thinking on going to see it on IMAX, but now I'm not so sure. Is IMAX the same quality 4K?? Doesn't IMAX use film instead of digital projectors?
What will bring the best TLK experience? I need help deciding! :wha4:

And also, I guess I can turn this topic like the "Are YOU going to see TLK in 3D?" and ask, "Are YOU going to see TLK in IMAX?" :eyebrow5: That way it'll help me decide!

Thanks! :excited:

As for what is the best viewing experience, it's up to you, but Disney wants us to experience The Lion King in a new format, so it's best to view the film in 3D. Plus, you've already should have the movie in the regular 4K (or 2D) format.

Finally, I haven't heard nothing about an IMAX re-release, :wha4: though it was released into IMAX back in 2003 for the Platinum Edition release. But, you can do the research for yourself. The news state it is being released in Disney Digital 3D, but only for 2 weeks.

I saw Lion King in IMAX in 2003, it was awesome, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone that had never seen Lion King theatrically. but as TheLionPrince said I have heard nothing about a Lion King re-release in IMAX.

Now I wish they'd release it again in IMAX :( I saw TLK at 12:01am on Friday. I brought lots of friends over and there was less then 20 people in the movie theater. It was very fun! 3D = awesome. :D Thanks for the help. :3

Sorry if I'm spamming, I see you made your decision, but I saw it in 3D. It was awesome, like I was seeing it for the first time

I'm sorry I brought up an old topic but I'm so curious, why wouldn't you recommend IMAX to people who had never seen TLK theatrically? I haven't seen IMAX, so I'm just curious.

Yeah, the 3D was incredible. I wish I saw it at a reasonable time though, after the 3D experience, I was having a hard time staying awake driving home... :/ (DON'T DO WHAT I DID!)

I'm not SimbaGuard, but I think it's because the IMAX re-release was edited on some parts and technically not the exact same as 94. But, just thinking about watching TLK on IMAX makes me extremely excited!
