How did Pride Rock get there?

The most common response would be that a mountain eroded. I'll get to that in a minute...
Now I know this is a mere film, but I still think this would be a fun and interesting topic

As for the eroded mountain thing, it's very, very unlikely and entire mountain eroded away that was once in the middle of a vast plain and left one point structure of a rock that does not look eroded. :B
My personal opinion is that Pride Rock was left by an enormous glacier, and part of the rocks split down the middle, as one rock lodged in the ground the other fell on top. This is subject to change.

It possibly formed from an earthquake or something... I dunno. Now that you mention it, it seems really odd that some rocks could be formed so perfectly that lions could actually use it as a den... Then again, talking lions doesn't make much sense either.
[s]Maybe a giant used it as a toilet.[/s] Okay, sorry. I couldn't resist. The resemblance is uncanny. xD

Since when are toilets that pointy? xD
Meh, maybe since spirits in the sky are one of the themes of the movie, some of them helped the formation of pride rock or something like that.

I like the sound of that, Let's call it the divine intervention theory and go with it

I think that sounds logical. I always imagined that Pride Rock was two rocks on-top of eachother, I also tend to sketch it that way :3

I think it eroded from the ground from various large rocks that probably took thousands of years to do that. We don't know if the past kings had Pride Rock, but it seems logical that they would. I dunno.

The inspiration for Priderock came from the African plains themselves. The plains used to have volcanic activity that would form rock formations that seem to tower over the surrounding flatness. Even though you won't find Priderock in the real world, it was based off real geography.

I doubt it was based off that, but I'm really not going into debate.
I still support the divine intervention theory x3
