why did the animals sing not one of us instead of the lions?

During the Not One Of Us song, it seems weird to me that the random animals sing the song. I love the song, but to me would have made more sense if the lionesses (maybe even Simba & Nala) sang it. I mean Kovu was welcomed into their pride. Kovu barely interacted with any of the other animals aside from the Upendi number.

What do you think?

Nala wouldn't sing it; she supports KiaraxKovu. Simba's not much of a singer, and Kovu didn't really interact with the other lionesses. Then again, he didn't really interact with the random animals either, but...

It could also be to emphasize the whole "the Pridelanders and Outsiders are different": Were Kovu, being an outsider, would be tormented by anything that moves in the Pridelands, because he doesn't belong there. The entire kingdom is against the outsiders (Scar's reign, anyone?), not just the lions.

I agree, the random animals singing this song works, also i think that Simba and the lionesses not singing kinda adds to the dramatic effect.

I agree with DGFone and Changa ^^ I thought I saw some lions in the crowd...but I can't be sure. I'm pretty sure some lions sang along but just weren't in featured ^^

I never thought that was weird, I assume it's to show how strong a support Simba has from everyone who lives in the pridelands
