We Are One uncalled for?

The first time I saw this movie, Simba was all mad at Kiara for meeting an Outlander. Then he sang We Are One, and I was like, "But you hate Outlanders, and now you want to be one with them? What?" I just thought the We Are One idea was kind of off-subject...

But, the whole "Kiara working it out and then telling Simba" thing wouldn't have happened if Simba decided that they are all one by himself. And neither would the whole plot, really.

You can argue that "We are one" applies to those living in the Pridelands. If you don't want to be "one", then get out.
Like in the song "not one of us" where the animals are forcing Kovu out because they think that he is not trustworthy.
But it is a kind of sweeping the trash under the rug approach.

Maybe it was some sort of test for Kiara and everything that happened over SP and the first TLK was actually just set up XD so Mufasa didn't actually die

Personally, I don`t think We Are One (the song) was related to the Outlanders, but just to Kiara and Simba. "That`s like saying you don`t want to be a lion. It`s in your blood, as I am. We are part of eachother." and "We are one, you and I, we are like the earth and sky.." plus Simba sings about how the power of their ancestors will guide Kiara and give her strength as she takes her place in the Circle of Life.
It`s only later that Simba realizes that the We Are One concept relates not just to his own family, but to the whole pride, also the part of his pride that he banished. (the Outlander lionesses)

As do I, this obviously does not apply to the Outsiders, whom Simba does not consider as having anything to do with him or his Pride.

We are One seemed uncalled for when Simba sang it, but it's actually the base for some Kiara character development later on after Love Will Find a Way when she and Kovu are looking at their reflections and realize that they're combined. At the same time, Kiara realizes a deeper meaning to that, which Simba didn't intend but it came back to bite him on the butt, and they go to stop the battle between the Pridelanders and the Outlanders and in the end, they become one as a pride. I personally think it's really cheesy :\
