My Theory for Simba's Deeds

(Sorry the title doesn't make much sense; words fail me today)
Anyhow, this is my theory for why Simba was so mean and uncaring in Simba's Pride:
As we all know, The Lion King was roughly based off Shakespere's Hamlet, as Simba's Pride was for Romeo and Juliet. My theory is that Simba had to be the "unfaithful, untrustworthy, and not understanding" father of Juliet (Kiara) that wouldn't let Romeo (Kovu) near her. This was probably why Simba was so mean in the sequel: He had to play the role as Juliet's father.
(Yes, very short theory)
What do you all think?

I don't really think so, I mean for one I wouldn't say he was uncaring or even mean for that matter. He definitely loves his daughter and his choices are only what he thinks is best for her. I thought the only real connection to this and Romeo and Juliet was in two people from two very different prides that just can not get along, fall in love. Other than that I found the plot quite a bit different and perhaps that is why I just do not see the point you are expressing.
EDIT: Last line came out a bit wrong haha, what I mean is I can see your point; I just don't really think so ^^

I see what you're saying. I agree he's not mean or cruel, just saying that I think his behaviour was part of the plot.

Actually the minute simba becomes a father... he became a disney father. And by disney father I mean overbearing and protective of their child and not giving them freedom.

I thought so too ^^ but even so I don't think it is because of the basis of Romeo & Juliet; I just think it's because of his childhood experience.

I think it's partly because of Kopa getting killed and because, you know, crazy Zira's lurking around the borders with an insatiable bloodlust

Yeah. If I were Simba, I would have been terrified at the fact the the murderer his son and lurking about trying to get him next. I would have been really worried and would have been overpretective of Kiara. And I guess that I would have gotten paranoid. So its understandable.

Well, I don't believe in the Zira killed Kopa theory but it does make sense as a factor of why Simba would be so overprotective. Even if Kopa had never existed, I'd still be scared that Zira would kill my daughter, because, y;know... she's deranged
