Yeah, I hear that people say that Nala says Shetani in that scene because apparently the name was changed quite late into the production, but i listened carefully to before and she does say Vitani, someone was making that she said Shetani up at that point, unless it was an older version of the movie and she said Shetani instead of Vitani, but I don't think she did.

*watches the scene again*
I'm almost sure she said "Vitani!".
It's just me or Moira Kelly sounds different in SP? I've seen other movies with her and her normal speaking voice is the one she uses in TLK. (btw, she's a very good singer too). I think they tried to make Nala sound older, wiser and motherly (Matthew Broderick has a boyish voice and sounds the same) and she gave a forced lower voice at some parts of the movie. Why the change? My mother still sounds the same as she did when she was 20 years old. Same thing with my father.
Because of that change in Nala's voice, here they got a different actress to play Nala, one with a deeper voice. The first Nala was available for the part at the time but she couldn't fake her voice to sound older. She later played Nala again in TLK 1 1/2.

Well I've always thought she said "Vita-la-ni" and was VERY confused by this. But some people hear it, others dont.

Like I said, sounds like Vitani to me. I guess it depends on peoples sense of hearing, but I wouldn't know.

Like Jiirani said, Vitani`s name was changed late in production. I think they made sure that Moira Kelly came in to record the correct name, though. They wouldn`t change the name of the character and not correct the voice recording of other characters speaking the old name. You know?
